I wanted to colour one more of my Inktober entries and practice some digital painting. I think I'm starting to lean towards the painterly style, but I also want to be able to blend smoothly - and currently fail at both Anyway, here's Limestone Pie!

Total art noob here, can you please briefly explain what that means? How does it differ from whatever you do usually?

Certainly! It's a style when brush markings are visible in some parts, blending less smottoh and it gives the piece more "rough" feeling. My usual style is just bucket tool + lasso tool, I'm not using brushes at all!

Very nice work on this one. I can honestly say that your art style is improving greatly. Also as a side note, if you're having troubles with blending shadows and light i think I may have a few pointers for you if you find yourself in need of assistance.

Basically in the program which I use (Krita) there's a smear brush and what I do is I first lay down the shadows with a air brush and then use the smear brush to smooth it out and get a nice gradient. Also if you're interested in learning more there's a sight known as Skillshare where they have thousands of online courses for pretty much anything you need (Including digital art) there's a subscription fee of course but in my experience it has been well worth it. Actually, I'm learning from Udemy - similar to Skillshare only you don't pay a monthly fee, just a flat price for each course. (There's excellent free library at ctrlpaint.com as well!). Thank you for letting me know about smear brush. I'm learning how to blend using low opacity brush. This allows for more painterly style, but I admit I'm not happy with the results -_- I think I need much more pratice. Maybe I could try to mix both techniques
And I will be waiting for the page tomorrow! ^^
