I would really need someone who teachs me digital painting You're great, the only thing I have to point out is that I cannot see background light on the main figure. Oh, I love that strand of hair, it's so soft. Great work on lips too.

Thanks for the video, that's actually pretty helpful. Though what layer settings do you use to add in the colours? I noticed you used a few layers first to add the initial colour wash, before painting all the details on top of everything else.

I usually set them to overlay or multiply. Sometimes even both!

TokenRabbit In reply to dsasec [2011-05-24 16:24:38 +0000 UTC]

Both? As in you have two versions of the same colour layer; one set to overlay and the other to multiply?

I've grown pretty used to doing things the other way around, lately; put the colours below and set the greyscale to multiply or overlay. But I guess overlaying the colours probably works better for making a more muted picture, rather than one where the colours nearly "explode" in the viewer's face.

Yes, you are right! Using the overlay-mode works better that multiply, especially for the ground-colouring. But in some cases not. So i am always trying out both of them.

Concerning this project, every single layer is allmost set on a different mode!
So it is an expermental process and you have to decide which mode fits your requirements most.
