Wow... just... wow. The reflection of the lighthouse is truly amazing, since the water is so calm. Fantastic job

Womdeful lighting and the shot of the boat and the lighthouse. The waters look so pure and love its colors.

Wow, fabulous, like ~siyah pointed out, this could very well have been a painting, the ripples on the water would usually have spoilt the picture in my opinion, but here it simply enhanced the feel and made it seem more life-like

Normally, when I see "calm," I would think of undisturbed waters and a clear reflection. But in here, it's the exact opposite. I feel calmness because of the ripples--they look like nice and easy wind ripples. And I love the cloud reflection in the water--it's kind of muddled, but it looks like a really nice painting. Actually the entire reflection is like a painting! Hmm. Maybe it's like nature's way of painting things. (Okay I just sound crazy there. xD) Anyway. The colours are really nice. I'd expect this in a magazine promoting some beautiful tourist attraction (the lighthouse? :/) on an island or something. So I'm going to fave this! (:

the scene composition is superb. but what i love about the piece the most is how serene everything is, and how vast and epic the piece conveys to me.

Thank you! I used the HDR (high dynamic range) technique to get such soft lighting

One of the best sea photo i've seen for long. I really love the calm and refreshing atmosphere. And the soft tones are wonderful. Beautiful composition too. This simple and well balanced composition really helps the peaceful atmosphere.
Congratulation.

I tried hard to reproduce the tranquil atmosphere of that place, glad it worked out well.

It works better than well!
That's a great work man!
I assume that the post processing was a very delicate point to render the atmosphere so well. Some advice about your techniques ?

DSent In reply to Ricoo [2006-07-17 19:48:21 +0000 UTC]
Actually, I combined 3 different exposures here (so-called HDR technique). Hence the soft lighting.
The original colors were ordinary bluish, so I added some magenta to get that (dreamy?) atmosphere.
And yes, I'm always very careful when it comes to post-processing...I love to play with colors, see how differently they affect on people. Also, I try to keep thing 'the simpler - the better' way

HDR... I've never tried such photos. Maybe because i don't bring my tripod with me so often.
I totally agree with you for 'the simpler the better' way. It's one of the most important things about photography i've understood here.
