Nate's art. An idea my brother and I had for Halo/Gears of War crossover (in the latter's gameplay style) where the Covenant go to war against the Locust on Sera and players get a choice of two campaigns on which antagonists they want to play as (the human campaign is unlocked when you beat both). For this pic, I drew all 6 assault rifle options; 3 for the Covenant and 3 for the Locust. With the introduction of Covenant weapons in a Gears game, I thought of the idea of plasma-based weapons doing more damage against shields and bullet-type weapons doing better against health (An inspiration provided by the Halo modder, Ruby of Blue), giving each assault rifle a particular niche. While technically shooting radiation instead of plasma, I did decide to make the Carbine a plasma-based weapon to serve as the counterpart of the Hammerburst. The Carbine would have superior range to the Hammerburst, but the Hammerburst's 3-round burst would give it a bit more base damage to compensate. An idea my brother had for the Brute Plasma Rifle (Called the Frenzy Rifle to further differentiate it from the Plasma Rifle) was to make it look more spikey and poorly welded together and to make a 5-round burst weapon that grants greater firepower but also makes it overheat. However, when it does overheat, it's melee damage increases by double, killing most players in one or two hits before it cools down. I had also considered giving other plasma weapons this overheat melee buff, but we will see. Anyway, this took way longer than I wanted to (I failed to save at one point and basically had to start drawing the Hammerburst all over again), so I'm gonna take a break. Next up will be the shotguns, of which I have a cool idea for! Stay tuned!
