Description If you asked me, "Hey, DT. If there was any dead or forgotten franchise you'd like a shot at reviving, what would it be?
Off the top of my head, I would likely say Bomberman [Fantasy Race] or Bubsy. Or Ristar. But the point of this submission is Bubsy.

While I'm sure the creator of the character gave it his all, the team who tried to trurn Bubsy into a franchise with longevity just couldn't make it happen. The games have been considered less than stellar in retrospect and a pilot that couldn't even get off the ground. With a track record that bad, it's not like an attempt at a revival could make anything worse. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? :V

Additionally, I think it'd have more potential as a comic or cartoon (revamped, of course) than an actual game series. Either one could work with proper execution, though.

Most of the characters have been drawn/sketched from the cartoon in some way or another, with the biggest change being the replacement of the two obnoxious and very annoying bobcat kids with a more down to earth sibling for Bubsy (if Bubsy's a by-blood uncle, he's gotta have a brother or sister). Not just because I like the idea of a male/female dynamic, but also that every crazy character needs a better half to keep them in check.

Making a fan project would be passable. I really don't think anyone would mind. But officially obtaining the rights would be even cooler. With a little bit of researching, seems like the ownership trail ends at Atari, but I cant even imagine how to go about obtaining a franchise, much less how much they'd want for something I'm pretty sure they don't even know or care that they have...

Bubsy and co (c) Atari(?)

As Rob Paulsen once said "the only good thing about that show was that the checks cleared."

Yup, gotta look on the bright side. :V
I wonder how he'd legit feel if he was called to do a revival series?

Maybe if you make him a good offer.

I wonder if he takes, "Out of the goodness of his hearrt" coupons?
Kidding, of course, but it does make me wonder how much low tier Voice Acting pays on average now.

Well, in that same interview he also stated that he "got to be Jim Carry for a whole lot less money" when talking about playing the voice of The Mask, if that's any indication.

The weirdest thing. While I pondered a sort-of sequel to Sonic R, at one point I kept thinking that Bubsy would somehow work as an added character.

That isn't a good sign for myself or Sonic.

Or it could be a really good thing. A little stylizing and he could come off as a fitting character in the Sonic universe.
Though I don't think people will be able to handle two dudes with 'tudes.

I would say, make a mock-up for the comic/cartoon and then show the idea to Atari, and ask if you can have the rights.

This was it would prove that you care for the series, and would try everything in your might, to make it something "profitable".
After that, the rights would probably be shared, as well as the "income" so yeah... alot of things too consider... not enough time to think about all xD

Pitching an idea does sound like a good idea (and a little obvious now that you mention it).

The bigger issue is that I've been to their site and there doesn't seem to be any kind of contact towards talking with them or pitching things. Only if I wanted to be an investor or something. But yeah, if I can show that I'd be interested and can dish out a product, maybe, just maybe, they could be interested. V:
