EDIT 2: This is REALLY late, but another deviant let me know that she's actually done this idea already (and multiple times apparently!)(shadobabe.deviantart.com/art/W⦠) So I just wanted to give her props for being ahead of the curb!--------------------------------------------------------------------

This idea randomly popped into my head while I was in Statistics. It was such an obvious concept that I wondered why I'd never seen someone draw it before...so like a hipster I drew it. (this couldn't be avoided, xD)
I had the impression that if they swapped shoes as well, Sonic wouldn't be able to figure out how to break using the hover shoes, and Shadow would be slow as dirt.
(Maybe SEGA should make a Sonic Re:Colors)

But you CAN! It's just practice, really. It's not like I've always drawn like this (and trust me, if you go to the oldest pictures in my gallery, that becomes VERY clear).
Just keep drawing and keep learning. Pick up some techniques or styles from other artists you like, and mix them in your own work. It's not always easy to see improvement, but it's happening~

When I did this, that's the immediate thought that came to mind.
I was like: "...Shadow's not a re-color. He'd make a terrible re-color. He's just Shadow~"
