Because Piranha Plant is ACTUALLY a Mario Character. Waluigi’s just a combination of 2 characters made by Camelot that first appeared in a Mario Spinoff.

Needless to say, I totally did not expect Piranha Plant to be a playable character in "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate", especially after the announcements of Ken and Inceneroar being added to the roster as well.

Yeah, I'm hoping that the DLC characters will turn out to be ones that are awesome and fun to play as, and I still can't get over Krystal and Shovel Knight not being playable as well.
