Does an elf need a time piece? I wonder? For a creature that lives... almost eternally, does it really matter to keep track of time when it's a resource that's plenty of and you really don't need to gather it like water. Well, probably not but I would imagine some elves would like to have one if only for the novelty of owning one to look at to kill time.

I was trying out some new techniques, such as using only mechanical pencil. I saw a great picture from one of the garden books, and took some of the scenes there to try it out. I thought, "This needs an elf." In the end the doodling transformed to a drawing keke. Unlike my other pieces which are drawn on good quality drafting paper, this was done in cheap photocopy papy and mechanical pencil 0.5 and 0.7 The scanning was terrible and I had to adjust the jpg to look like the original in photoshop. I guess I learned my lesson: When you want to draw a finished piece, always work on good quality paper.

Many ask how I come up with my ideas. Here I present to you one way I do this by coming up with an idea, an elf with a time piece, and looking at some sort of reference and combining the two. It may sound lame, but that's how simple it is. If it was harder, I may not be here. Glad that's not the case.
