As we move closer into the holiday season, I’ve begun to think a little more of my loved ones. The ones with me and especially those far away. It is a joyous time to celebrate the love you have and I consider myself fortunate to have the love I do. I sometimes, though, wonder what it would have been like if I had a big brother who could protect me. Not that I needed much protection, just wondering about having a big brother that I could wrestle with and watch my back for those few times I did get into trouble. I see how brothers can be comforting, encouraging, loving and sometimes overly protective. It is endearing to say the least. Don’t worry, I don’t feel like I have a missing part of me or a hole in my life to be filled. Just a thought. And sometimes, a thought can be an inspiration. I have a friend who has an older brother, and another friend who has a younger sister. These relations are like best friends. They call each other often to touch base, what their evening plans are, what‘s coming, etc. Their conversations are full of excitement and fun to listen. I remember reading a story of a brother who was being sent to Afghanistan and a sister going to Kuwait. It got me thinking about brother and sister warriors. This was my inspirational thought.
