Description
As we move closer into the holiday season, I’ve begun to think a little more of my loved ones. The ones with me and especially those far away. It is a joyous time to celebrate the love you have and I consider myself fortunate to have the love I do. I sometimes, though, wonder what it would have been like if I had a big brother who could protect me. Not that I needed much protection, just wondering about having a big brother that I could wrestle with and watch my back for those few times I did get into trouble. I see how brothers can be comforting, encouraging, loving and sometimes overly protective. It is endearing to say the least. Don’t worry, I don’t feel like I have a missing part of me or a hole in my life to be filled. Just a thought. And sometimes, a thought can be an inspiration. I have a friend who has an older brother, and another friend who has a younger sister. These relations are like best friends. They call each other often to touch base, what their evening plans are, what‘s coming, etc. Their conversations are full of excitement and fun to listen. I remember reading a story of a brother who was being sent to Afghanistan and a sister going to Kuwait. It got me thinking about brother and sister warriors. This was my inspirational thought. Enjoy.Related content

I think I had this wish so many times during my childhood.
But I'm lucky enough that I have a younger brother that is actually more like a big brother to me than i am a older sister to him.^^
But despite that a very warm and powerful statement with this picture you have said. Even with the lions heads and sun as decoration on his armor. ^^

That's how brothers can be, as I've observed. Younger ones can step up to be akin to a father taking a manly role of protection. Is it in their genetic make up I wonder? Still, good to see yours is good and well. Happy Holidays!!

I guess it could be, if a father is such kind of man they can become like that.
Happy Holidays to you to honorable sai.^^

amazing work!! and wonderful detail! but what I like most is the feeling of what the story=art is saying!! drop dead consuming !! this takes me away to warm protected thoughts and hope of great good in world.. the body surrounding and in-golfing with love and that being of a supernal and deeply felt strength and protection . and I love the big brother's big feet!! =+) only thing I could like to see more is maybe wings a little lighter but amazing job!! I will enjoy!

So glad you can find comfort in the drawing. My worldly hope is the same as yours. Just wish more people would realize this and start moving in a better direction. Atleast we still have hope. Thanks again for your kind words of encouragement.

Big brothers are easy to get. Getting a good one is hard. Good luck to you. I'm still looking myself even though I kinda have one now. Why stop at one, when you can have two or several. kekekeke Thanks for your kind words.

Heh, as an only child, and no parents from a young age, I had no choice but to make siblings and relatives out of the people that were closest to me. I now have an older brother and sister, four siblings my own age and three younger brothers and a little sister, and I care for them exactly as if they really were related to me. The family has expanded a little over the last few years, and I now have a total of seven assorted nephews and neices, 3 boys four girls, five of whom I'm also godfather to.
By the way, do you have access to my family album or something? Because this is the eact pose (forgetting armour, wings and dagger) of Ben and Emma from about six years back... Roughly the same proportioning too, as Ben's huge and Em's tiny...
Still, you're absolutely right. It's a time for family, and you find that where you can Nice concept, could do with cleaning her face a little... she has a moustache! X)
FN!

Now, that's an expanded family. I'm happy for you and jealous at the same time, mostly happy. My family has grown too but not exponentially like yours. I do like the big family and the bigger family get together. Blood bonds are thicker than water for sure.
As for the mustache. That's not a mustache. It's a strain of hair that fell from big brother. (dangit forgot to clean the area along with a whole lot of other areas!!)
The pose came out of my own ideas from where those came from, I know not. Don't have access to that site. How close is it, I wonder.
Happy Holidays to you my friend.

I have 4 younger sister and after reading your comment, I wish I had/have this kind of relationship to them. Though, it's not always like that. While some have a special bound like the one you talked about, other prefer to go their own ways and this ends in usual conversations like "hi, everything fine with you? - Yes, and you? - Yep, ok."
Means, work, family, children etc take the day-routine over sometimes and you forget what you really have.
Though, Christmas is a great time to spend your time with the ones you love most, so I guess it's ok.
Despite this, I'd be honored to have your permission to color this piece, because it's truly inypiring and wonderful. Of course I'll send you the link to the finished piece and give you proper credit. Is it ok?

I'll endorse every word you've said. Siblings, unfortunately, aren't values in one's life that are attainable once one's parents have passed. (Except in blended families, and many step- or half-siblings are indeed this close.) I hope you have many other relations that offer such closeness for you.
I have a younger brother, by only 15 months. By time, fortune, and circumstance, we've ended up sharing the same residence for ten years now. As much as we knew of and loved each other growing up, I know our knowledge and our bond has deepened in this past decade as middle-aged adults. I count us as being deeply fortunate, especially in the dozen years since we lost both our parents, within 10 months. We have at least had each other.
As to this drawing ... Their sensitive support is almost excruciating in its depth on your page. Even if they weren't winged (my weak point, of course, and as you well know ), this would be compelling. I've rarely seen as strong an aura of protectiveness in any characters, mostly in how he's holding his sister.
Anything that makes me want to talk about my own brother, which I haven't yet done at dA, would get my *fave* anyway, no matter what was so adeptly portrayed.
I'll note one reservation, nonetheless: Your having made this on a pre-printed art board creates an unavoidable distraction, however minor, in the margins. (Shared with many adept comics artists, professionals and not. It's not worth any outright complaint, though, as against their talents — or yours.)
And one hope: That you'll one day choose to expand this into a fully inked and shaped version on blank boards, with her limbs and a background being fully visible. I would dote even more upon it, I might even spend money on a print, and I doubt I'm the only one.

I don't know if having a deep relationship with a sibling is the norm but I do not find it common. Friendly and good, yes, but not deep for the most of my observation. The relationship I have with my older sibling is not good but we both try harder now that I'm on my own. I have a better relationship with 2 younger siblings that I cherish and consider lovingly. My friend, you, I see, have a rare bond and happy to know you have achieved such a blessing. Good tidings to you this Holiday Season.

Still so many details .I have a question , are brother's wings dark cause of the shadow or he has black wings .This one reminds me Van and Folken Fannel from Escaflowne with the older brother determined and the younger , with his pure white wings , weaker .
