Description Well... what can I say other than this took me over two days to fully finish... My hand still hurts. I did this in lieu of the four page paper I had to write that had to cite 15 sources within said paper, and none of them could be "fake" internet... in other words... all were either books I read or really long articles... *sigh* So, as a reward for having turned said paper in on time today, I gift you all with what I did as my "procrastination project".

As you can see, Kuri has some issues of her own. Poor gel. Hope you all get a chuckle at it at least.

I'm glad that you had a fun time reading the comic. It was a blast drawing it. I am not British, but I suppose with a bit of my writing, it would seem that way. I thank you so much for your comment and the favour you have shown towards this piece.

*chuckle* Well done as always Ducky. I was most pleased when I saw your name in the hundred or so deviations; it was like a cashew in a can of mixed nuts. Y'know, 'cause cashews are the ones they dont' put in much and they're all tasty and stuff and ... OK, probably a bad analogy, but you get the idea. I like your stuff

I've only seen about half of one episode of DP, it looed interesting, and it's got a neat style. Guess I'll have to figure out a way to see more

Anywho, looking forward to seeing more, when you get the time to draw again.

Smile, it makes people wonder what you're up to.

Nooooo! It's a wonderful analogy! I loved it very much. And thanks for comparing my art to a cashew... now I'm hankering for some. Yeah, DP is pretty darn funny if I say so myself, and yet interesting at the same time. Sadly though, I haven't had TV for over a month now. Not like I'm going through withdrawl or anything.

Wolfwoodster In reply to DuckyYepYep [2006-06-04 00:26:59 +0000 UTC]

Why haven't you had TV for a month?

Ship TV kinda sucks. When we're pierside, we can get cable, if there's a connection at the pier, it's a 50/50 for that. We also have three satellite channels, but they don't get much besides news and sports and the occasional prime time stuff, and certainly not cartoons. The other option is japanese TV, which can be really fun when the dramas and soap type things come on. Jones and I do a little MST3K bit on it ... and I'm rambling again, sorry

Oh, hey! I actually have solid dates for my leave now. I should be in FC around the first week of August, staying for a week, then I'm going to another school in San Diego. You going to be in town?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DuckyYepYep In reply to Wolfwoodster [2006-06-04 02:27:40 +0000 UTC]

I might be in town, though I'm not sure 100%... And I'd love to see you do the MST3K thang! Though I'd probably think it was funnier for the simple fact that I could pick out 1 from every 10 words said (I hope).
The reason I haven't had TV for a month is because all of the TV's are broken, boo! and I'm waiting for popi to fix them...it's taking awhile though. Sigh.

Well, I'll just have to cross my fingers then Planning on a vacation?

It can get really interesting hearing american cartoons translated, like dexters lab, or Grim and Evil. Saw those in Thailand, was ... interesting. Yes, I can talk about my last port finally. We finally got a liberty port (just go out and have a good time, no work.) I got to ride an elephant and had some silk suits, including a burgundy zoot suit and a chinese tuxedo. I likes them

Bummer about the TV thing. I may work in electronics, but any time a CRT breaks, I leave it alone unless it's just damaged wiring. There's too much danger of getting zapped with several thousand volts from the cathode on the tube. Wouldn't be pretty.

Maybe I'll record some japanese soap and bring it back with me

Does your dad work on that sort of stuff for a living, or just a jack of all trades?

DuckyYepYep In reply to Wolfwoodster [2006-06-04 16:15:24 +0000 UTC]

I gotzta ride an elephante when I was a kid, so narflebrinkle! So, did you enjoy Thailand? Was it interesting? I think it would be. I'm jealous. I wish you'd have taken pictures of the suit and tux, I bet the were beautiful! You should also take lots of pictures of the native habitat! Waaa, so exciting.

And no, my father is an engineer, actually...a rocket scientist... but that's neither here nor there... He can fix pretty much anything. It makes me jealous at times.

Wolfwoodster In reply to DuckyYepYep [2006-06-06 03:07:31 +0000 UTC]

Narflebrinkle. Heehee. I had a good time in Thailand . The only problem I ran into, which I tend to run into in all the ports we visit, is the number of hookers. All over the place. Hong Kong was the worst, they'd just walk up behind me and grab me by the crotch. I don't usually hang out in areas where they are, but when I'm on Shore Patrol and I have to go into the less savory establishments. (think military police. Keeping our guys from getting drunk/beligerent/buying drugs/etc.).

The port we went to, Pattaya, was very busy, they ship in lots of people from all over Thailand to sell junk to sailors. 4000 people with nothing to do but spend money will incite that sort of thing

I'm sorry I didn't make it quite clear when I wrote that last post, I was a little sleep deprived and delirious. I actually bought those suits, entirely silk. I'll post pictures of them when I get into port. I still need to get a fedora, shoes, and wallet/tie chains for the zoot suit.

I took quite a few pictures in Thailand, as did my compatriots, including some from on the elephants, I'll post them when I get a chance to sit down and sort through it all :sweatdrop:

I'll be back in Sasebo soon too, so I'll be able to start taking pictures around there, too. I'm waiting for the chance to get on top of a nearby mountain where there's an observatory and take a panorama of the port/city.

Rocket Scientist hm? Don't suppose he ever worked on the ion thruster CSU was/is working on? I may have met him unwittingly. He sounds kind of like my dad, only my dad does more mundane stuff, woodworking/carpentry, masonry, landscaping. He's got a great artistic talent, just not stuff that goes on canvas.

I do love the travel. Every time I go out and do stuff like that, I think to myself, "Gee, I bet the people back in FC are just watching TV or something." Kind of makes me wonder what I want to do next. I'm eligible for a shore station after this, and I don't know if I want to get shore duty here in Japan, or take a break and stay in the states for three years.

... I ranted again. Maybe I should just start restricting myself to single sentence responses -_-;

We all somewhat know what it's like to talk with ourselves, yeah? Though, in Kuri's case, it's more like... how do I put this, it really is another being she's arguing with.

ArualStage In reply to ArualStage [2006-05-30 20:40:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it looks better that way. It would've made her legs look thick if you cut them off there... hmm... I'm rambling, anyways, your welcome I think!

DuckyYepYep In reply to ArualStage [2006-05-30 02:36:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I sort of did that on purpose. The oval was suppose to be around that area of her body when I drew it out but when I finally made the oval background, I thought that it looked good that way, adds a bit of character, wouldn't you say? Thanks for noticing, and leaving a nice comment!

Awww Thanks. I'm glad that you like the shapes, and poses, but they're based off of the Danny Phantom (hence the DP) universe. I just wanted to make something funny in my gallery, at least once. This sort of fit the occation.

Love the use of fonts to distinct voices (aided with the eye colours). I also like how you spelt it "gel". Have you been reading C.S. Lewis?

Although, she seems to be missing legs below the belt in the third-last cell. Is that intentional?

...and as always, great to see you back on dA! yay!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DuckyYepYep In reply to shadow-paladin [2006-05-29 16:18:46 +0000 UTC]

Awww, thanks! I'm glad that you liked the distinction between the two, I sort of had to make it more obvious than just the eye color... people might not have caught that. I've been reading far to many books set in various historical times and modern times, that seem to have "gel". Yep, I have been reading C.S. Lewis. And yep, yet again, the legs missing was intentional, but the oval around her was *suppose* to be centered on that section, but then, I thought "hey, it looks good there too!" So I ended up keeping it like that. Thanks again for such a cool comment, and welcoming back!

Yeah, you never realise just how much you DO learn, and how much social interaction you got a school until you no longer have it, and then you officially go to "work". Awww, I'm sure there were girls eyeing you when you were in school, even if you didn't know it! We're sneaky like that.

tee-hee. methinks even the most decisive people have such episodes of schizophrenia, the different perspectives you've reported are quite amusing the art is again most professional in visuals, if i see your name in the credits of an animated show one day, expect me to brag about being a distant cousin of yours i especially liked the way her appearance so clearly correlated with her attitude and the physical distinctions like the changing eye color nicely done~

DuckyYepYep In reply to paytakprenses [2006-05-27 15:16:10 +0000 UTC]

Why thank you so much! I'm glad that you think it looks great, and yeah, we all do this occationally. The only way to know you are truly insane though is if you are talking with yourself and then you say "What?" I'm also glad that you noticed the eye change as she switched people (literally), usually there's a happy balance between the two, but somedays one wants to dominate the other. Once again, thank you for such a nice, indepth comment, it warmed my heart!

Agent-Di [2006-05-27 02:03:20 +0000 UTC]

Wow, poor Kuri does have that dual personality thing going (nice touch with the different style fonts). Darn ghosts, it explains the eye thing though. She kinda reminds me of Ember a bit with her facial expressions. That's a compliment though cuz it means ya really know your DP style. Thanks so much for including Diary. You did a great job drawing her and including all that detail. The bgs look great too. Very in-style with the series. You obviously spent a lot of time on this. It paid off. Yay for school inspiring great art...even if we were supposed to be doing something else instead. XP

DuckyYepYep In reply to Agent-Di [2006-05-27 04:29:13 +0000 UTC]

Yay! I'm so happy that you think my style of expression really comes from the series, that makes me so happy! I'm glad that you think I did an okay job on Diary. I was a little worried about that aspect. Sooo, is the dialogue something Diary would say in that situation? 'Cuz I know I'd say it, but I'm not so sure of her... I want to thank you so much for thinking it was cool enough to , you really lightened my mood with that (I was feeling a bit down). You're style is much better though, you have it down pat AND your lines are so much cleaner than mine.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Agent-Di In reply to DuckyYepYep [2006-05-27 23:25:49 +0000 UTC]

I hardly think my lines are that clean, lineart is hard to do smoothly just using the drawing tablet. I think you've got a great handle the on the DP style. Diary's dialogue is right on.

Glad I could brighten your day but hey you earned the fav!

Naaa, Kuri is just sort of... weird. She has two people inhabiting her body, herself, and a ghost. She's sort of like a magnet when it comes to them. This one sort of stuck with her. Hence the one eye blue and one eye green bit, and when it's only one at a time, it's the one shade. As I said, she's somewhat weird.
