Well, when you don't really know about the past or the reality of someone, or you just know what he is acting like at the moment, you can easily be fooled xD
Also, you have to remember that in the Xros-verse of the anime, groups like the Royal Knights or Seven Great Demon Lords (and other known groups) doesn't exist... so, this lucemon actually didn't try to do the things his profile say (or the things the one from Frontier did), and even if he did some of those things, again, the digimons were fooled by his "Love and peace" acting xD
