One detail always bothered me about his 'Eating Smurfs' motivation.
Considering he's never caught a Smurf how does he even know what one would taste like, or even if they're edible?
Now if he heard or read that like how eating the flesh of a mermaid gives one immortality, that eating a Smurf has some mystical benefits of their own, maybe then I could understand.
Still they changed his motivation to 'turning smurfs into gold' later on so, moot point?

His motive has always been ambiguous for why he wants smurfs. Sometimes he wants to eat them. Sometimes he wants to turn them into gold. Sometimes he just wants to destroy them because he hates them.
I just chalk it up to his imprinting his angry from other things onto smurfs and he really doesn't know what he wants xD.
