Description
Hi. My name is Dunca, and I am a Pokémon Fan in a very long time. Now, I proudly present my work for everyone. This is the first sprite sheet, which contained a lot of many trainer sprites I revamped base on the trainer sprites in Pokémon FireRed/ LeafGreen. I don't believe that it took me a lot of time to revamp them in Gen 4 style.
There was a part of me drive me to redraw the Trainer sprites from Fire Red/Leaf Green. It's really hard for me to explain why I had to do it, but there is one thing I know that is the passion of playing Pokemon series and my desire to play Pokemon Yellow Remake on Nintendo DS.
When I was young, I played a lot of Pokemon games, and I also watched Pokemon Anime series. I began to root Ash and Pikachu, and I had been loving Pokemon since then.
The first Pokemon game I played is Pokemon Yellow, which has Pikachu in it. I even named trainer Red was Ash, and Blue was Gary just like everyone who watched the series.
Some years later, Pokemon Heart Gold/ Soul Silver were released, and I accidentally knew about GBA hack games. I started to search a lot of fan games to see whether there was any gen 4 fan games, but there was none. Even that, I did tried to make a hack game, but the resourses were limited, and the efforts were backfired.
I began to lose my hope, and I couldn't stop thinking about my dream game where Red's beloved Pikachu's movement in 2.5D until I accidently found the fan game. It was Pokemon Heart Red which is the remake of Pokemon Red/Blue. My emotion was overflown with joy, tears and drama. The game had put the seed in my mind.
After seeing the game's development in Pokémon Community Forum, I started thinking a lot: "Should I wait for spriters making trainer sprites, or I make it myself?"
To make my reality become true, I started to download a lot of gen 4 sprite sheets and the sprites from various talent artists. Even that I had to learn to do steps by steps on YouTube, DeviantArt and many various sources. Things were not easy for me back then, and I almost gave up my sprites.
3 months later, something changed me drastically. As I mentioned above, I found my own meaning. Actually I couldnt recalled it why I kept doing revamping in Octorber 2016. I only remembered that I had to do it for the sake of myself first. After that, the first sprite was revamped.
Erika's Fire Red/Leaf Green revamped sprite is based on Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver. I only added, changed some pixels, and somehow she is so similar to her gen 3 counterpart. After the first successful, I began to draw more and more sprites. Somehow I did failed to revamp some sprites, and began to jigsaw some sprites in Heartgold/Soul Silver and some sprites of many various artists. I felt desperate that I couldn't do exactly as I wanted so I decided to stop doing anything in the middle of November and the early December 2016.
After taking a break, I decided to continue to draw them. First, I began to draw gym leaders. Most of gym leaders are based on their counterpart of Pokemon gen 4 and gen 5, but it was really hard for me to draw the exact porpotion, the body and etc., for example, Misty. Even though I was stuck, my passion for Pokemon was strong enough to keep me on the track.
In the present, I am doing a project related to Pokemon. As you can see so far, I usually use the sprites from Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver and Pokemon Black/White sprite sheets to compare and draw. Making Pokemon Trainers help me a lot, and I feel confident to make more Pokemon Trainers in future. I don't know I can do this forever, but right now I know that I couldn't stop my self from drawing them. (smile)
There are a lot of artist who I really admire for putting their heart in making Pokemon and Trainer sprites, and I want to express my gratitude toward the Seniors, who did the Pokemon Trainers before me.
Thank kensuyjin33 for allowing me to use, re-color and draw the rival/Blue's original sprite. kensuyjin33.deviantart.com/art… by
Thank Flamejow for inspiring me to do Agatha's sprite. flamejow.deviantart.com/art/Ag… by
Thank AutumnSpire and various sprite artist for their custome sprites. autumnspire.deviantart.com/art… by
And more.
In the future I will learn how to animate sprites in the future. Hopefully I can learn something from Seniors and Juniors.
Note: There are some sprites I need to fix.
You can download the sprite sheets as long as you credit me and these artists. The size of each sprite is 80x80.
All characters belong to Nintendo and Game Freak.
