Description When I worked for Disney, we had to wear many hats: graphic designer, illustrator, logo designer, costume designer and concept artist to name a few. This fell under concept art for the Princess and the Frog Parade in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.
The hard part about these assignments is not the parade stuff - that can be fun - but drawing the back of heads of guests that you have to make look like they're having a great time. How do you do that without a facial expression to match??
Art Directed by Tom Butch.
Image, naturally, is copyright Disney.

Sorry to sound creepy but how did you ever manage to get a job at Disney? (I really want to be an imagineer when I'm older)

You don't sound creepy; it's an honest question. I went to school at Cal State Fullerton in 2000 where I happened to be surrounded by a lot of talented people- teachers and students. A group of us got into illustration and graphic design (which is not usually combined) and the assignments were geared towards portfolio pieces. Using these we had a unique portfolio that helped us stand out from the others and Disney liked what they saw. I got into Disneyland Entertainment Art through a fellow classmate Tim Wollweber, who was nice enough to introduce me through my portfolio which got me a job there.
I recommend tailoring your portfolio towards your goal, make friends along the way, network when and where you can and just keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities. Most of the time it's just luck of the draw, or being in the right place at the right time. There's no real formula for success, unfortunately, so you just have to go out there, be out there and do your best. Also, feel free to try to contact people in Imagineering. They were once in your shoes and a nice letter could get you invited up to look around. Doesn't hurt to try.
I hope I helped. I know I may have repeated advise you may have heard a million times before, but this is how it is. Talent, Fate and Luck all working together.
Good luck!
