Thank you - yes it's our garden - we grow a few nettles for the peacock butterflies to lay their eggs on

Really, with an Core Member you can do so many extra interesting things,
which are useful. It has many differences without it.
Even it looks much prettyer with nice skins for example, and as an admin you can do much more.
Great greatΒ Β Β Β

This is a great photo indeed, but the subject looks like the enemy!Β Β (The invasive and highly destructive-to-our-wildlife Harlequin)Β I hope you still have Seven-Spot and Two-Spot Ladybirds and other native insects in your beautiful garden, as these little blighters can make short work of so many species.Β Superb art in your photo, though!Β

Oh dear - thanks for letting me know, come to think of it - no, I've not seen any 2 or 7 spotted Lady Birds for about 3 years running now - Whats the rule with the Harlequin, squish em' like the lily bugs?

The color simplicity of this photo really enhances it. Limiting to green, purple, and white in the background means that the eye is not pulled anywhere other than your subject, even though you have a lot of dynamic lines crossing everywhere. Adding in the spot-on shallow plane of focus... Yeah, "wow" does not do this photo justice.

Thank you CageyJay, very much appreciated. Have you got any 'projects' this summer?
π: 0 β©: 1
CageyJay In reply to DuneDrifter [2016-06-07 02:46:31 +0000 UTC]
^_^ Yes, two summer projects:
1. Buy my first house.
2. Get my button-selling website up and running.
Going toward my second goal, I suppose I have the summer project of getting all of the buttons that require paint augmentation painted, Β so I can finish cataloguing all of them and go back to the actual making of buttons.

wow, you've picked two of the most stressful ones to do at the same time. (well in the same season)
I've got my fingers crossed, hoping your first house has a button room, already completed with thousands of button drawsΒ
Do you also collect buttons? if you do, any particular sort?
(I'm surprised you haven't made any steam punk buttons yet). - just a thought Β (old gears and cog's etc)

CageyJay In reply to DuneDrifter [2016-06-07 19:00:02 +0000 UTC]
(Actually, I was starting hesitantly down the path of a Steampunk theme with and some of the "metallic" rosettes, but I really need to make a cookie cutter of a gear or key to go anywhere properly. But if you have any requests, I am willing to try! Let me know!)
Yes, I do collect some buttons. There are antique buttons that make wonderful inspirations. My favorite acquisitions happen to be "cricket cage" buttons, which are hollow, filigreed sphere buttons created to resemble the "lucky cricket" cages that Europeans encountered when visiting China during the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
Do you collect anything in particular?

DuneDrifter In reply to CageyJay [2016-06-14 18:37:16 +0000 UTC]
Pictures of The Queen with Β£50 written on them - seriously though, I do/did collect "max and the canary" ornaments, the relatives buy me those. Now I have a complete collection, I've told them all, I now collect cow ornaments (it makes it easier for them to buy presents)
, I suppose I can also count those cute Japanese puzzle lock boxes too, (I've been bought three of those), oh and an every increasing pile of old tools, very well crafted and ready to hang in the garage / hobby room. Oh and odd socks - the washing machine seems to eat them

Thank you Maddie, the picture was taken at 09:30 am - you can see the tree line in the sheen, I had to duck my head down below the tree line to make sure my shadow shape wasn't in it
