After their visit to Maroux, the Pathfinders begin their exploration of the marshes.
"Are you in for a long time, Carandas?" asked Lyrio.
They had been wading for almost an hour in the swamp under the cold November rain. Many detours were necessary to avoid getting stuck or to go around impassable bushes, and they were advancing slowly.
"I have something that went into my boot," grumbled Carandas, sitting on a stump and inspecting the inside of her shoe. A kind of big worm fell out of it. "Ah! You see! That...thing could have bitten me. »
"It's just a worm. »
"You never know. I don't want to have to undergo an amputation," the wizard replied, putting on her boot. " Damn, my stocking is soaking wet! »
"We're all in the same situation, Sis," says Mirixiana. "We have to move forward now. »
"Why not use your Ambulate Super Mare spell? »
"We're the ones who are sick and tired of your recriminations, Carandas," Lyrio replied.
"I forbid you to speak to me in this way! »
"We're going to move on, Sis, and if it ever gets too complicated, I'll cast the spell," says Mirixiana, conciliatory.

Après leur visite chez Maroux, les Pathfinders commencent leur exploration des marais.
    « Vous en avez pour longtemps, Carandas ? » demanda Lyrio.

    Ils pataugeaient depuis près d’une heure dans les marais, sous la pluie froide de novembre. Beaucoup de détours étaient nécessaires pour éviter de s’enliser ou pour contourner des buissons infranchissables et ils avançaient lentement.

    « J’ai quelque chose qui est rentré dans ma botte, » maugréa Carandas, assise sur une souche et qui inspectait l’intérieur de sa chaussure. Une sorte de gros ver en tomba. « Ah ! Vous voyez ! Cette…chose aurait pu me mordre. »

    « Ce n’est qu’une larve. »

    « On ne sait jamais. Je ne veux pas avoir à subir une amputation, » rétorqua la magicienne en enfilant sa botte. « Misère, mon bas est tout trempé ! »

    « Nous sommes tous dans le même cas, sœurette, » dit Mirixiana. « Il faut avancer maintenant. »

    « Pourquoi ne pas utiliser ton sort Ambulate Super Mare ? »

    « C’est nous qui en avons super marre de vos récriminations, Carandas, » répliqua Lyrio.

    « Je vous interdit de me parler sur ce ton ! »

    « Nous allons encore avancer sœurette, et si jamais ça devient trop compliqué, je lancerais le sortilège, » dit Mirixiana, conciliante.
