Dunn95 — The Color to Light

Description Oil on Canvas, 16 x 20 inches. I wanted to make a bold sunset, I originally planned to just make it a really powerful red and some orange and yellow, the usual. But...I looked at Monet and stuff and wanted to do something different, and sunsets technically are all colors of the rainbow sometimes, so why not? It's not exactly what I wanted, but I do seem to like it. I stuck to the base colors, ROYGBV, throughout the painting, which I find cool. Anyway, very colorful and hopefully came out powerful with flowing energy.

Wow this painting is absolutely stunning with the various vibrant colors that you somehow managed to blend together. The reflections and fine details are impressive, but the sun's reflection in the lake seems brighter. I'm not sure if it's intended that way lol. Either way, beautiful painting! Keep up the wonderful work.

Wow! This is a beautiful piece. I do love the colors, I especially like how you stuck to the main colors throughout, it gives it a very unified feel. Great job with the reflection as well. The trees are well done too. The way you shaded them really gives the realism of separate leaves while still sticking to your style. Though, the right to middle branch looks somewhat off. I think its the angle its coming from the tree. I'm not a real fan of the sunswirl this time. At least the one in the sky, I do like the one in the lake though. I think its the contrast between the dark orange of the sunswirl and the yellow of the sky that I don't like. There is already so much detail and so many different areas in the lower half, that I think it needs a singular upper half to balance things out. But the sunswirl cuts the sky up into too many different sections. Maybe if it had been lighter in the middle? But still an amazing piece. The way you blended the colors in the sky is very well done, as are the waves on the water, your simple but effective style. Very nice, keep it up!

And you don't? I was trying to make the sun stand out a tad more, but you're right, I may of been able to lighten it up more, would of eased it I suppose. But thank you very much, again, ha
