Description And yet another redesign of a Primal Carnage dinosaur, as I was requested: Tyrannosaurus Rex, the (I guess) main star on the show . I revamped again the most updated game model (very JP influenced, like the other animals)) using Sue as a reference, and added some of my own textures. I think now it stands as more or less accurate, though tyrannosaurs are not my forte and it might still have some minor flaw.

I found black and white-greyish feathers to offer a great contrast with the red-yellow body, and seems like IΒ΄m not the only one. Fellow deviant made his own accurate version: [link]

there is a museum that uses this image in one of their displays, though you should know,Β dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.ph…
probably not that big a deal, just found it interesting

I don't really care for the feathers, but this is a good picture nonetheless. I read that along the lines of evolution, Tyrannosaurus lost their feathers.

Eh, thanks. I donΒ΄t think thereΒ΄s evidence of adult tyrannosaurs completely losing their feathers (specially after Yutyrannus), although some partial feather loss is expected.

Yutyrannus was a tyrannosauroid. They say that through evolution, that Tyrannosaurs did lose feathers. Also if there were feathers on T-Rex, they would find the impressions of feathers on T-Rex with their fossils.

No. Nobody says this. Nobody in the field at least. We don't have enough evidence at the moment to suggest the extent of plumage in large tyrannosaurids.

A featherless T.rex is consistent with what we know about large animals losing their insulatory covering. Take elephants, for example. But who knows?

Giraffes? Buffalo? Giant ground sloths? Mastodon?
Elephants are ancestrally aquatic.

very good job, i must agree the feathers look great against the colours of the rest of the body and add a great contrast

I did my best but man, revamping the head from the original has been a nightmare.

You really need to show them these designs.
They're pretty loyal to their followers and I'm pretty sure that if something like a petition, or grouping is made about the accuracy (which I am now beginning to agree with), they'd fix the mistakes.

Those were posted in the game official forums so the game community and designers could see them, and so far they seem to like them. I donΒ΄t have a real hope that they will change their models in the slightest though. The modding option sounds plausible to me.

Yes, yes!
Modding on this game will be awesome!

redesigning the mesh bodies, would mean that they'd have to be retextured and rerigged, and fix the animations too, which would take quite some time >:

I'd rather someone mod the rex and other dinosaurs, than the devs take months to redo and optimize feathered or accurate variants, and push the game back development wise.

Didn't think about modding.
That would work better. XD
