I wanted to do something with a bit of dramatic lighting with this dress (Roxanne for Genesis 8 and 8.1 by Rhiannon at Renderosity). This color just fit so well with my Brianne character(based on Brianne for G8F at Renderosity) that I decided to do another image with her (tried a few other characters, but she just fit perfectly with this dress). No real backstory here, I just wanted to create an introspective mood with the pose and lighting, as well as highlight the figure/character with the lighting. I wanted more than not just a pretty figure. I wanted sort of an alluring thoughtful figure in a thought provoking image .... not sure if I succeeded, but hopefully you enjoy the image.

The scene set up is fairly simple. The main lighting is a soft HDI that is creating the key light sort of behind her and to her right front side. A spot light was placed behind her to create a rim light using rectangle geometry about 100cm high and 40 cm wide to make is a soft light. Two additional low intensity spot lights were used to highlight her face (I used two to help soften the shadows a bit as a single light was too harsh, and I could use geometry because the lights are in the view of the camera). The scene is Contemporary Living by Stonemason at DAZ. It's and old product, but still quite usable. I used 3 Iray Sectional planes to allow the light from the HDRI into the building. The trees/hills and night sky in the background are an image (photo) applied to a plain. The character is a customized character based on Brianne from Renderosity (a lot of additional morphs and shader adjustments). The dress uses dforce and simulated very well. Amazingly, I didn't modify the shaders on the dress, the color and shader settings were exactly what I wanted!! The hair is dynamic as well, the simulation of the hair and the dress took about 8 min. to run.

Basic post work was done in Gimp. I slightly adjusted levels, added a bit of vignette, a bit of unsharp mask, and of course the signature.

The scene was set up in DAZ Studio 4.2.xx Beta, and rendered using Iray.
