Description
I did this pic just before I left to go to the con, then put it in my portfolio not thinking anything of it...well, this pic may have landed me a kick ass cover gig!!! I'm not saying anything for definite, cause it's all still up in the air, and it may not come through, but I'm hoping it does. The movie comes out today yo! I'm stoked about it as I'm sure many of you are. I just gave a bit of my take on the chaaracters with Capt. Spaulding, Baby, Otis, and I stuck Rob in the director's chair in the corner, cause he deserves credit. Hope you all dig, just something that started as a doodle, but grew and grewRelated content

awesome composition, and the drawing of the characters rocks \m/ I bet you'll get that cover gig I'm not sure when The Devil's Reject will open in theaters here, but probably not very soon >_< I really want to see it, though!

Thanks so much, really glad you dig my take on the characters I just saw Devi's Rejects last night, and I have mixed feelings. I liked it, but it was so different from House of 1000 Corpses it's hard to call it a sequel. It has some great acting, directing, gore, and just over all sick stuff though

That really turned out great! *prays you get the gig* I wanna see this flick so bad. Kinda broke right now from the con. The layout is really nice. It flows so easily and is pleasing to the eye. I think you'll land that job. You art is so appealing. ^_^

Thanks Shelly! I really hope I get it, I did 3 covers for them to choose, 4 technicallly, but one is just a variant. I'm dying to find out!
I don't know if you'll like the flick or not. It's really, really hardcore. Of course that's Rob though. So far, the two movies I've seen of his, I walk out of the theater a little shocked by what I've seen. It's really Gory, not Passion of the Christ gory, but close.

Very cool! I hope that cover gig comes through for you!
They've just put up a poster for Devils Rejects at the bottom of my street, and it's one of the best posters I've seen in years; totally reminds me of all those video nasty covers from the banned movies that are just coming out on DVD!

Thanks very much, I hope it comes through as well, still waiting to hear back, i'll let everyone know ASAP.
Hah, hah, yah, the new Devil's Reject poster is rockin'! you're talking about the green looking one with the arm right? I heard that the Last Supper parody that they did was banned and theaters wouldn't carry it, that's how you know you've done something kick ass, when people ban it!

Uber-Fiend In reply to DustinEvans [2005-07-23 12:08:40 +0000 UTC]
Totally. The poster at the top of my street is a black background with two hands smearing blood all over as if they're trying to hang on. It rocks, and the quote on it (I think it's from a British Newspaper or something) is saying how it's really relentless and gory and stuff.... you know you can count on Mr Zombie to come up with the goods!

That sounds awesome! I haven't seen that poster yet. I saw the flick last night, and I must say it truly is "relentless and gory" to say the least! Good ole' Rob

Cool. Was it better than "House of 1000 Corpses"? I hate saying it, but I wasn't 100% loving "House..." Nothing I could put my finger on, but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

DustinEvans In reply to Uber-Fiend [2005-07-24 15:02:14 +0000 UTC]
Well, the actual directing, acting, art direction, cinematography, all that stuff was better I think, but the movie itself was not better...if that makes any sense, lol. He should have made this movie with all new characters and just changed the script a bit and he would have been better off.

Yeah, I catch your drift. Is that big guy from the end of "House..." in this movie? I can't remember his name, but he was huge and had an axe and no skin on his head, and was kinda leaky when his mask was taken off. I liked him, he was cool!

DustinEvans In reply to Uber-Fiend [2005-07-24 18:07:07 +0000 UTC]
Yah, I liked that character too! He's sadly not in this movie at all. It's so different from the first. I wouldn't call this a scary movie at all. It's gory and gross, but not a horror movie. What's so odd about it is the surreal aspects the first movie had and the more reality based aspects the new movie has. It's almost like the characters are completely different from the first movie.

Hmm. Sounds cool though, I'll have to check it out. It's kinda good that he's branching out stylistically, cos the last movie was a lot like watching one of his music videos, and it's showing that he can do a bunch of styles.... it's one in the eye for all those people who say he should stick to the music!

Yah, this movie is actually a really great movie as far as directing and flim making goes. I think it easily proves he could handle a real career in film.

nice work- the bearded guy holding the axe is the SHIT!! really, REALLY well handeled.
It reminds me of the actor- I've only seen previews but it totally represents him well.
Damn fine job, sir

Thanks so much, really glad you're diggin' this work. Yah, the guy with the axe is Otis in the movie played by Bill Mosley in real life, he was Chop Top in TCM 2 I think it was...been a while since I've seen it. Anywho, thank you! Glad you like this page.
