That does not look like a lamp to me.... it looks like a lantern.

i could be wrong but after hear that ozpin say to take the lamp to atlas it make think about the use of the relics, this idea come from miths and legends, well this relic is a lamp and the group have to take it to atlas, atlas in the myths is a titan that hold the sky, so the lamp have to be in atlas to signpost the localitation of the chamber of creation in beacon ( reason of why Salem doesnt find it), in there the relic may be a type of key, from there they need to go to the chamber of choice, maybe the power of the relic of choice is you can unlock the destruction or make the things like they were before, like time travel or something, and then find the relic of destruction that can be a badass weapon or a sealed power.

there was a theory that ozpin's cane was one of the relics however ozpin states that his cane is not one, also did you know that there really is such a thing as a relic of Knowledge and that it is a lamp in Egyptian times that was more known as the relic of life rather then knowledge? It makes one wonder if the relics have same basis on that, such as if there are three more relics could they too have been researched and based of of said relics?
hmm they could be based on the emblems but then we don't really see cinder getting to the relic in Vale, beacon's relic though she sates that Haven in mistral made more of an effort to glorify the maidens powers and their connection to the relics.
it is a good theory that the emblems are based off the relics ozpin's cane being one was a good theory, or is still a good theory knowing Ozpin he could have lied about his can not being a relic
