Description
Wow, this was so much fun to put together, I had to edit the hell out of my influences just to get these, that was the hardest part. Once it's done though it's really interesting to step back and look at how the different art that influences you looks when its all stacked up according to the degree of the effect on your own work. I can't wait to see more people do these, I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the influences of the people on my list, I know Claire Wendlings going to appear on quite a number of them.P.S. It was only after I got to writing this entries description that I realized I omitted Adam Hughes from my map, that doesn't make any sense, that guys influence has had a major impact on my stuff, but I had to give a spot to Ron Cobb, so thanks for taking the hit for him Adam!
Clockwise starting in the upper left corner, Chris Sprouse-Clement Sauve-Dave Johnson-Alex Toth-Mike Mignola-Eric Canete-Jason Pearson-Jack Kirby-Cory Walker-Art Adams-Ron Cobb-Rob Haynes- and in the middle Michael Golden!

No John Byrne?
I'm shocked...
I saw him early on in your work.
Great list by the way.

Cool.
It'd be great if there was an artist list for this meme.
Who did the 1st Panel, the 3rd one down with the space ship (Moebius?), the pistol girl with the "P", and the Bikini girl bottom center?

I'm glad to see Michael Golden, Art Adams, and Jack Kirby taking up so much of the influence map! It shows in all the stuff you do, man. I think your work is a nice synthesis of all of these!

This is sweet. Artists that I absolutely love and look at all the time are in here. Like the guy mentioned earlier I keep a Daredevil: Ninja right on my desk. Along with work by all of these guys practically. For me, it would be really tough to squeeze John Buscema, James Bama, Bill Watterson, Mort Drucker, John Berkey, Syd Mead and so many others in there...

I find that we forget about 20 influences or so after making a list such as this, which you gradually remember during the next month great list, by the way! The only one I can't name on sight is the armored figure next to the Chris Sprouse art...

Oh, Man!! You posted that iconic Michael Golden piece! That is by far one of my all-time biggest influences!
Hey, I just happened across a really hi resolution copy of that art a few weeks ago for anyone who doesn't have it already.
[link]
I never got my poster in the mail when the original promo ran in the comics and I haven't seen a good resolution image of the piece online. I have the Wildstorm version (with all the purple and starts-yuck!), in an "Art of" book that I bought from Golden at a con in Dallas-- but it can't touch the original (imo).
Anyway, I luv your influences Dusty, but what is the one with the ship (third down on the left)?

holy smokes, thats the best scan of the marching poster i've ever seen, thanks for the heads up, i definitely saved it! Thanks for that.
The ship art is by the amazing Ron Cobb, back in the day you could count the number of great concept designers on one hand, Cobb was one of those guys!
