I don't really know anything about Tarot, but drawing my own rendition of one of the cards seemed like an interesting concept. Drawing it was much less fun than I expected (swords were a perspective and render nightmare even with a Google Sketchup mockup), but I'm rather pleased with result :3You can read a wikipedia article on this specific card if you're interested.

With Tarot creation the less the individual painting the representation knows the better. In its true esoteric rendering the diviner is to establish a relationship with an artist. The cards are then described by the diviner and the artists interprets them and creates the imagery. Through this symbiotic process of knowledge and perception a deck for practice may be created.
I particularly like your creation as the figure has its head raised and facing the viewer, many have the figure looking away or behind and down. Lovely.

This card is all about holding yourself back due to fear. Be that fear of success, intimacy or life. I love how you chose to use orange as an undergarment because it tends to represent a desire to let go of resentments, fears and issues from the past. I also love how you choose to use red as the over dress, this implies a desire to move away from apathy, fear and anxiety. I absolutely love the symbolism of the grey storm around the figure, it shows the desire to find neutrality and emotional stability. The grey also represents a lack of movement, like the swords and bindings that trap the figure in their own fear. Thank you for creating this lovely interpretation of the eight of swords.

Ну, не совсем... Чаши и пентакли, как правило, хорошее означают. Девятка пентаклей - так вообще счастье полное.
Из старших арканов добрые предзнаменования, например, у Императора, Императрицы, Мага...
