Description
Magic also plays a role in the world of Nederantansie. Altough it's not common sight, magic has been both admired and feared, because magic has both the powers of healing, creation, killing and destruction.
Origins:
The true origins of magic remains unknown, but it is theorized that some magic was accidently released from the Realm of Magic after the Old Gods created the three worlds of existence. Some mortal creatures have magic in their blood because of this accident. Blood from magic users sparkle, which is the best way to recognize someone that possess magical powers.
Because the Old Gods represent the Six Elements of Creation, it also represents the elements of magic. Which is: Life, Death, Fire, Water, Earth and Air.
Training of Wizards:
All the wizards, in Veranor atleast, are trained in magic at the Wizards College of the city of Ans Eirwes. This college was not only a school for wizards. It also provides a wizards apartment, santuary and even a prison for deranged magic abusers. If a person with magical powers is located, he or she will be caught by the "Wizard hunters" and send to brought to the Wizards College to learn about how to control his powers, if he/she can't control it, then that person will be inprisoned untill he can. This seems quite brutal, but it's for his/her own good and for the safety of society. Even people from high nobility are not safe from the Wizard Hunters.
In the Wizard's College, young wizards are allowed to choose one of the six elements to specialize in. And each wizard that specialized in a particular element has also it's own name and functions. Some elements are beter used in warfare, so the elder wizards want's to make sure that you can be trusted, because they certainly don't want a deranged Fire Mage being set loose on the world.
Sages of Life: These magic users are specialized in use of Life Magic, which contains healing magic and creation magic. They can heal most wound wounds that will otherwise be fatal and are usually used as field medics. Known races that uses these kind of wizards are: humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, azracs and lizardmen.
Necromancers: These magic users are specialized in the of Death Magic, which contains spells of bringing death, decay and animating the dead. This element has been outlawed ever since the event of the God's Splitting, and necromancers are now rarely seen. They are not evil in general, just shy and docile. Known races that use these kind of wizards are: humans, elves and azracs.
Pyromancers: Specialized in Fire Magic, Pyromancers are used as powerful weapons of war, capable of setting whole regiments ablaze. But they are always guarded by the bodyguards of the general, ready to cut the wizard down if he will turn on his comrades. Known races that use these kind wizards are: humans, dwarves and azracs.
Waterbenders: Specialized in Water Magic. These magic users are the most secluded from society, being able to breath under water with the right spell. The magic they use allows them to create waves of water from a calm lake into a tsunami. Furthermore, their Water Magic also serves a way of healing. Known races that use these kind of wizards are: humans, elves and lizardmen.
Earthlings: These magic users are specialized in Earth Magic. Allowing them to raise boulders with just a simple gesture and turn others into stone. Earthlings are wizards that are more in the defence of a town then send out into a battlefield. Races that are known to use these wizards are: dwarves, gnomes and uldra's.
Airwinds: These kind of magic users are specialized in Air Magic. These magic users have the ability to float and are able to communicate with another Airwind from a far distance with their minds. Known races that uses these kind of wizards are: humans, elves and gnomes.
Some wizards use a combination of two elements, although it is less effective then focusing on one element, they are still a force to be reckoned with and more variable. Having magic can have some advantages and drawbacks. Some people see magic as gift, while others see it as a curse.
Advantages:
- You are able to learn and cast spells.
- You can wield enchanted weapons.
- The magic in your blood gives you a longer lifespan.
- With that long lifespan, you can learn almost anything without worrying about time.
- You'll considered as a wise person.
Drawbacks:
- Most people are afraid of you. (Especially the supersticious humans.)
- Some people see you as a threat and will try to dispatch you.
- You'll outlive most of your friends.
- You are more vulnerable to demonic possession.

Yeah, most fantasy realms have no clear explanation about how magic exist, so I made it like it was an accident from the Old Gods.
And even with magic users in the world, they are still not many of them, not even a percent of the total population of Veranor possesses magical powers.

Magic doesn't always need an explanation, but when there is one, it makes the story stand out more.

Well, it was a compliment.^^ I didn't word it very well; what I meant was that when a story does explain where magic comes from, it makes it more unique.^^

Ah, now it gets clear. It is actually kinda embarrassing when I post a comment that people don't understand, you know. But now it's fine.
