Glücklicherweise bin ich in einer von Wäldern und der Ostseeküste umgebenen Kleinstadt aufgewachsen und verbringe auch momentan nur die Hälfte meiner Zeit in einer Großstadt.

It isn't inescapable.  It is called, shut it down, turn it off and take a break from technology.  I have started doing it once a week.  No TV, Computer, I do keep the phone on in case of emergencies, but I don't use it, don't answer it.  Put it on vibrate and that is it.  I read a book.  Very restful and a nice change of pace.

Thanks for the advice, but the struggle isn't supposed to be the dependency on technology, but our natural desires. Technology, as a distraction from fulfilling those desires, is put in contrast to the natural scene, where there is no option for not acting on your desires. Questioning which of those poles would be more satisfactory, or rather where in between that spot might be. You might still disagree, but I wanted to clear up what I meant by 'struggle'.

I understood that.  I didn't mean for it to sound like advice.  And having been raised on a farm I appreciated the  fact that you showed the beauty of nature so freely while your subject was trapped and surrounded by technology, as we are in daily life.  Sadly most people deal with technology constantly in the workforce, at home, at school.  We are raising entire generations who will completely depend on it, and when it goes down and some day it will there will be very few people who will know what to do because they won't be able to "Google it".

It is a distraction.  How much easier is it to boot up the computer than to take the family camping at the lake 20 kilometres away for the weekend? For myself I noticed I was feeling edgy, irritable and stretched thin mentally and decided to have a day without it, and it really helps.  That is what I was trying to convey.  It is amazing art.

Thanks for caring, but yes. This drawing is about a principle, that I, and I suppose most people, can relate to. Which is, that you can't distract yourself from your fundamental needs, in this case via technology and isolation, and live a happy life. Nowadays this is just a thought I want to put on paper, about 5+ years ago it would've been a real life problem for me though.

We need to be around others to have happy lives.
