Acrylics on Slate (Varnished)I copied this image from the cover of the AvP DVD cover. I did this as an experiment because I have never painted on slate before and I really enjoyed it. It is my sixth ever painting and I am very pleased with the detail because it is quite small, but I still need much practice.
This scan is not very good quality and doesn't do the piece much justice. I need to take a photo of it when I get round to it.

painting on slate was a good idea, and its a technically good painting, the only thing is that creating a reproduction of the dvd cover isnt very original
as ive ssaid, you should try to move away from copying things and create your own images

Im glad you like it and I know what you mean moving away from copying. Its something I am working up to because paint is very new to me. I find that fan art is helping me practice and discover my abilities which will hopefully give me confidence in coming up with original ideas and styles.

Amazing! The effect came out great...Never would have thought to use slate as a medium...Really beautiful and atmospheric. I love it!
