In 1499 Bonaire became part of Spain, but there was no gold and the eart wasn't good for farming. Spain didn't make a colonie of Bonaire. In 1633 The Netherlands conquered Bonaire. They jused The Indians on Bonaire for slaves for a while, but in 1863 slaverny stopped on Bonaire. In the nineteenth century the Netherland lost the power over Bonaire twice. (UK fault) In 1816 Bonaire was definitive part of the Netherlands. In the second world war there was a cosantrationcamp on bonaire. In 1954 Bonaire ruled itself and the Netherland did only the defence and finances. Since 10 october Bonaire became part of the BES-islands and became with that a special community of the Nethelands.
