I was doing both, drawing from my mind while using a couple reference photos to get the shape correct

I don't know why, but when I hear an artist say that they can make awesome art just from their mind, then I feel like I suck. But when an artist uses reference pics I am like, yeah that is right on and how to do it!

Ahaha I totally get it, as much as I'd like to say it's all from my head, I'd just be lying to you and myself. I have the image in my head, but I can't ever get the figure right, so I look up images to help solidify what I'm seeing in my head

yeah it is the same with me. I can see spectacular images in my head and think that this will be great, but as soon as my pencil hits the paper, there is this sound... like a toilet flushing I think.

Without fail, every time I draw a picture directly from my mind, I end up saying, "Well, that looked better in my head."
It's very frustrating honestly

Yup that is about right... You know I am pretty busy with some other projects, one art piece and a game I am programming, but when I get caught up, can I color your line art? It would be fun practice for me.
