Description The rest of the commission was to actually make the custom pony! I had fun designing her and using new techniques. I'd never done gradient dying before, but her legs, ears and nose turned out great. It's more obvious in the picture of her in the box because whenever the camera flash hit her it washed out her colors. I was originally going to change her eye color but it looked so good with her new hair that I opted to stay with green rather than blue. There's a tiny gem accent on her hoof heart. This is only the second box I've customized and I really like how it turned out. Especially when I had to cover up the "target exclusive" logo! I'm thinking next time I might really get to customizing the box with a whole new color scheme.

Actually the back simply has a custom pic I drew of the pony with a BG of the actual store she's inspired by. That's all the commissioner wanted!

She is fantastic! Did you use acrylic to paint the dress on, and did you put anything over it to keep it from rubbing off?

I use acrylic to paint the symbols, and then I use an acrylic matte varnish to paint over it to prevent it being rubbed off.

pure acetone works really well, so does Goof Off. I prefer the acetone tho', the goof off gives me a major headache.

It's actually really simple, at least the way I did it. I just make a bowl of dye (I use rit dye) and dip the pony's legs into it. I keep dunking her, but every time I dunk a little less of the pony's legs until her hoofs are dark and fade toward her body.

That sounds easy. I'll give it a try next time, thanks.
