Commission by [funeralwind]Timing was everything for this commission. After receiving a Starcraft 2 beta key, I decided to green light this idea. Funeralwind drew a previous infested Terran commission several years ago for me and I was fortunate to find him when he was available again. There were many challenging details to sort out for this commission and he did an excellent job in interpreting my request. I received regular updates from funeralwind and he overcame great technical issues to complete the commission for me. I greatly appreciate his work and I hope you visit his gallery to show your appreciation too. He does excellent commission work so check if he’s open for those too.

Title: Infested Samus
Background:
The Zerg are a ravenous, diabolical collective of alien species from the universe of Starcraft. They absorb, infest, and corrupt new alien species into their fold. They are led by Kerrigan the Queen of Blades, an Infested Terran.
Samus Aran is a bounty hunter from the Metroid universe and she is the fusion of Chozo technology and human tenacity.
Story:
Was it pride or the challenge of the greatest prey of all? By no means would the Queen of Blades be ordinary prey. She commanded armies of billions of Zerg, bred for warfare and genetically hardwired to destroy. She was the greatest threat to the universe. That alone was enough to convince bounty hunter Samus Aran to embark on the great hunt. Was there more to it though?
Task at hand, the strategies were endless. Join a full scale frontal assault with the Terran Dominion? Use bait to attract her target to a trap? Eliminate key cerebrates and wreak havoc on basic command and control? Samus waited and watched for the right moment to strike. Little did she know, her prey would turn the tables on her.
While inside her combat suit, Samus was shielded from the psychic intrusions of the Queen of Blades, her allies were not as fortunate. A string of psychic echoes with every person she interacted with before she set out on the great hunt served to betray Samus’ mission and her intentions to her target. While it briefly piqued Kerrigan’s interest that someone else was determined to destroy her, it greatly interested her that she was unable to sense that person with her telepathic powers. That would be a powerful trait to obtain by one way or another.
While Kerrigan could not track her Samus directly, she could sense the psychic void that came closer to her each passing day. Not content to unleash her rank and file on the would be killer, Kerrigan created special breeds of enhanced Zerg to test and strengthen Samus’ resolve. These hunter-killer broods assaulted Samus by land, underground, and by air. Day and night they came to die swiftly. Samus’ combat training and hunting skills was more than a match for the collective Zerg.
It required personal attention from Kerrigan the Queen of Blades to defeat Samus and even then, Kerrigan suffered grievous injuries. Content that she had met someone capable of matching her own powers, Kerrigan sought to turn her foe into a kindred spirit. A special chrysalis was created and the fallen warrior placed within. The Chozo suit was separated from Samus for further study, while she underwent her transformation into an infested Terran.
Her rebirth into the Zerg Swarm granted Samus new abilities and she relishes the newfound sense of belonging she has now. The Zerg will consume all and she will help lead them to victory and conquest.

I guess. The artist used references pre-Starcraft 2.

Wow. So, the Queen of Blades no longer needs the Swarm to take over the universe...She has Samus.

x parasides by a kontinentmile
in metroid fusion it was said that if they were allowed to leave the research station
they would have been a unstopable galaxywide thread
release them in a zerg researchstation they would kill the zerg, copy 100% of their DNA and abilites and mutliply to the thausands
and everytime a zerg would try to hit them they would just release the parasite from the destroyed copy and be infectd anew
imagine a thousandfold zerglingrush but replace the zerglings with ultralisks ... or worse leviathans

This should totally be used as a demotivational poster.
I can picture it all now--Infested Samus Aran: Where is your god now?
Shocking when you consider Brinstar and so forth--practically every planet she steps on blows up. It's only a matter of time!

She and Kerrigan joining forces. A truly terrifying notion.

It's things like this that prove how very little people understand the Metroid universe.

Hmmm, really want to read about this battle and Samus's time in teh chrysalis and when she first hatched. So they strip the people they're going to infest huh? So Samus was naked then?

Excellent art and equally excellent back story. You should write a novel about it.

Thanks for the compliment. Long form writing isn't my strong suit though.

well the Chozo suit doesn't fit her now
and you would think the Zerg would be intersted with the knowlege of metriod

I didn't want to get into the changing of the suit. Funeralwind informed me a while ago mechanical isn't a strength of his, so I adapted my idea instead.

Well... usually it's cloning. Also, if he is able to reproduce, no one would be able to identify the children as Ridley until it's too late. In Other M, it was explained that his species develops in stages. First stage is a cute chick/bunny thing that has an oddly large mouth. The second stage pops out the back of the chick, killing it. Second stage is like a fuzzy lizard thing with a sharp tail. It could, with imagination, resemble Ridley somewhat. Last stage (also bursting out of it's predecessors spine) is the full space-dragon.
