Shiny Fire Chicken!

I wanted to practice drawing on a larger scale and try some new highlighting techniques so after the Cresselia & Diancie ones so this piece was born I'm really happy how this one turned out! I struggled with the cheap colored liners because they were really sharp and kinda ripped the paper in some places. I really love the shiny form of Ho-Oh because it looks like molten gold and it fits better as a Pokémon Gold mascot then the regular colors. At first I wanted to do a forest background, then the top of the Bell Tower, then sunrise clouds but I ended up with a simple night sky. I think it makes the light colors pop better and in a way make the colors look like they are shining. Ho-Oh always gets the short end of the stick when talking about the gen 2 legendarys but it has a special place in my heart and from the right angles it can look both menacing and ethereal so I like it.
