All notifications should appear on your status bar. I generally take screenshots without the status bar, as they look better. Typically the status bar is located on the top of the screen. (Its the black bar on a stock ROM)
This UCCW skin itself does not show how many missed messages you have. You have to check your status bar. Plus, the current version of UCCW only has a missed messages counter for the stock messaging application, so 3rd party messaging apps (such as whatsapp) can't be used with UCCW.
