I really like this photo. It reminds me of a few buildings back home in NY. I've lived in the south for two years now, I can't say that I'm enjoying my stay, but just seeing this photo gave me some positive thoughts/memories. Thanks for that man.

the effect that this gives me is that there is no sky, which is how one can feel in the big city. this is a great capture and a wonderful effect on the mind. i love way this was cropped, (even if it was all in point and click) and everything about it is just worthy of more than 21 comments.

Hmmm...
The fact that the architectural segment fills the frame entirely gives it a very monumental impact, that you can not help but dive into visualy.
The colors may feel suffocated at instances, and dimmed by smog and layers upon layers of city dirt... but that is the beauty of industrial architecture. Indeed it may not be appealing according to the fundamental conventions of aestheticism, but you have captured the core quality of it very true to life. The clarity and the soft focus of the surfaces in the shot, on the other hand, compensate the roughness of other aspects.
Please don't throw tomatoes at me for agreeing that there is a lack of a proper focal point. But I do realize how it was hard to identify one... perhaps if the photo began with the first stair case to the right, and included another row of windows to the far left, then that mddle section of windows, inbetween the two airconditioning devices, could have adopted that role quite well... precisely for it's uniformness in pattern, as those three windows look like clones of each other... again...so very reminiscent of the quotidien life in the uniform blocks.
Overall , very intricate in detail deserving a *cough, cough*
never licking this monitor again

^hesitation s' comment is right, it DOES lack a point of interest... something to focus on... some sort of 'main subject'...
But that's actually what draws me to this shot, the colours are so strange and rusted, the building moves forward in strange, slow waves towards the right corner and creates a feeling to me as if this building goes on for quite a bit, as if I'm standing in a plain concrete courtyard, surrounded by these buildings, obviously with people inside...
But I feel uncomfortable... I am unused to seeing buildings with no real SIGN of people...besides an open blind or two, there's no flower pots hanging out the window, no people looking out... but then I've not been to many American towns so I don't really have an idea of what it's like there...
But this certainly feels UGLY, even as it has a strange familiarity and appeal to it.
Feels a bit like it rose from the earth and houses goblins inside actually...
What the hell? I can't stop staring...+ Favs.

quite a nice reminder of what a city looked like in the old days. i like stuff like this a lot. the structure of the building itself reminds me a little of the building always featured in seinfeld. i think the emergency stairs is really what stands out in this picture though, even if there is no "center of attention" popping out.

hesitation is right about the center of attention... but i like the shot even without that. the shot offers a lot of little details... and the architecture is great wonderful shot

What I find about htis picture is that it lacks the center of attention. The building IS in fact very interesting, but the eye goes around and around looking for something to stop at and fails to find it. If there was something unusual abut one of the windows, everything else would play better right away.

Damn, this is almost sinister. Not a place I'd like to live in, for sure. I wonder if the building was dark to start off with, or if it's the city fumes that turned it so.
In any case, very atmospheric. Great shot.

OOOH! Did you see Phone Booth. It creeps me out looking at this because of that movie. Terrific architecture shot. You got a nice perspective on it as well!
