Description
This is the Trench Nebula of my Sea of Divinity series. You wouldn't believe what I had to go through to finish this. I had been working on this for a month, then one day the .PSD just decided to get corrupted and it wouldn't open in photoshop anymore. But that was actually a good thing, because this version is a lot better then the original. What a sight that would be, eh?
If only it were possible...
EDIT: Took off the border.. because it was bugging me
- Changed the star field, notched the contrast up a bit, added the tiny moon, and fixed some parts of the nebula that bugged me. Enjoy!
- Fixed the big star next to the planet, and also the smaller one next to it. Edited the tiny planet a bit, and worked on the nebula some more.

im not sure but I like this better than the Sea of Divinity 2
The other one, yes it has a fluid like touch to the nebula, but with this one? you have no idea how realistic this is for me...

Beautiful work!
I particularly like the use of green on the smaller planet/moon

Thanks! It was actually my goal to make one of the planets a lush green color. It just didn't work well with the larger planet, but I too thought it worked with the smaller one

Beautiful!
The small moon is evidently colonized, looks like city lights in the southern hemisphere.
The large planet looks inviting: land masses and oceans. Any reason the larger planet shows no sign of civilization?

Well, I never really did create a story for this piece, however the size of the city on the small planet is considerably small, and that patch of light is really the only trace of civilization. It's possible the need for expansion just isn't a problem right now.
Or if you would like to go into simpler terms, city lights are harder to pull off on larger textures Lol.

The nebula is brilliant ... my first thought was 'clouds at sea', and then I read the title! Incredible work. I sympathize with the computer dumping your work, but it almost always turns out for the best, doesn't it?

I'm definitely curious about your opinion on the lighting I wouldn't mind if you told me. I like getting constructive criticism on my work, it only makes me better
But thank you for the comment

Fine detailed space art - a bit simple but ok nevertheless. The only thing that that I will rant about si that faint sunlight - it just doesn't look like star. Good Job.

NICE don't normally like space LP's but this is nice
but why is it flipped feels like it should be a landscape layout?
its nice anyway

dylanxedge In reply to tre0001 [2009-01-19 01:19:13 +0000 UTC]
It actually was at first, but for the sake of the way the nebula was painted, I felt it was better portrayed this way.
Maybe I'll release a v2 with a different perspective, and some extras of course, and make it as a landscape
