Description Gernanodactylus cristatus. A pterosaur found in Germany's Solnhofen limestone. It is a basal pterodactyloid, although some suggest it is a member of Dsungaripteroidea. Either way, it is an odd ball. Superficial resembelences to the non-pterodactyloid, Darwinopterus, the derived pterodactyloid Dsungaripterus and middle grounders like Gnathosaurus, make it difficult to place evolutionarily. Both of the currently most supported models show this taxon in different places, but I am personally working on resolving this issue.

In this image it is shown with a more extensive, near membrane, which is fuzzy as recorded recently in Jeholopterus. I've inflated the near wings as well, since Tischlinger has shown images of fairings behind the bones. This is further supported by Palmer's current work, and has long been suspected by palaeoartist Conway. All these facts combine to give the membrane a more draped feel. Based on that I drew inspiration from Colugos, so that I could see how posture and membrane elasticity would effect the look.
