Elise Poincaré could be aptly described as a being of simultaneous opposites - or perhaps, more accurately, one of simultaneous balance and extreme. Her very appearance and demeanour suggest interleaved calm and excitement, rationality and passion, resilience and acquiescence, zero and infinity. There are not ‘sides’ to her, as one might describe many people - the facets of her personality are all collinear and forward-facing, hand-in-hand - these facets may ebb and flow over time as the situation warrants, lending more weight to one or the other, but Ms. Poincaré never seems to fully suppress any part of her psyche. It would seem that she simply is who she is - in normal circumstances, this would make psychological profiling simpler, but in Ms. Poincaré’s case it has made the process nonlinear and extremely complex, and to date the only accurate exposition of her person exists as the general set of terms laid out above.
Official records and academic transcripts of Ms. Poincaré appear to be transient- discussions with several of her host institutions from the past 18 months have indicated that, as far as they could verify, she holds anything from no qualification to a Masters degree in Engineering or, at times, Photonics and Particle Physics. Every institution consulted has confirmed that background checks are thoroughly carried out, and that Ms. Poincaré was able to register and perform research at these faculties without suspicion. it is currently unclear whether she is able to create such an elaborate illusion that she may move between institutes so easily, or whether these institutes are willing to overlook her migrant habits at the prospect of having her publish her research materials with them.
On the nature of her research, there is a strong reason why so many academic institutions might want her to publish in their name - her work is astoundingly advanced when she actually gets around to seeing anything to completion. She is one of the few minds on Earth that has a full grasp of Dense Matter Photosimulation, known more colloquially as “hardlight”, and is possibly the only person alive who has managed to create an extensible free-space tunnelling waveguide. The industrial and commercial applications of the latter would mark incredible progress for wireless communications and power transfer, but Ms. Poincaré has yet to construct more than a few prototypes which are only comprehensible to her. She appears to employ these prototypes for her rather strange, yet harmless social hobbies.
On the topic of social habits, Ms. Poincaré appears to have no trouble fitting into any research or university setting, her outwardly shy nature rapidly giving way to gregariousness
and the sort of interests and affectations one might expect from a student of her age. She appears to have made many friends amongst her fellow students and research colleagues wherever she goes - and also, it would seem, a handful of enemies.
