Description
I'm a big fan of handheld gaming, but lately I've been thinking about the word handheld, which seems too similar to handhold.A lot of games practice handholding nowadays. Handholding in gaming is where the player is told what to do by the game (like a mother dragging her child by the arm). It can become really obnoxious when for the umpteenth time you get told by the game how to defeat the level boss. I think it's bad design if you have to tell that in the first place. There's more creative ways to drop hints, from big red buttons to dropping specific items on your path just before you need them.

As a gamer I really approve of this! ^^ I had some handheld consoles in the past, but my favourite one has to be the classic bulky GameBoy - it brings back so many memories of playing Donkey Kong

This is actually a really cool concept and one I think would go really well on a t-shirt. It's simple and straightforward but still colorful and emotive. Have you thought about uploading this somewhere to be printed on shirts?
I agree with what you said re: handheld vs. handhold in games these days. If you have to explain something that outright to the player, the design is lacking. Though, personally, I tend think the prevalence of explanations in handheld gaming devices and their respective games comes down to the fact the demographic for handheld devices is a very young one. So many games for the handheld devices are meant for an incredibly young audience with little to not game experience, so I tend to think it's that by and large.
But again, this is a cool design and well done.

I believe a lot of the nintendo games do that. Not that I don't love nintendo, I do. They just seem to put out more children games that pull those stunts rather than evening it out. This piece I thought originally was like ''End the console war.'' in the most adorable way possible.

Well, a lot of game shave it really. Nintendo games don't have any printed instructions anymore.

If you play enough Mario games, you know the drill. xD Their instructions told you nothing anyhow. 8D; I can see the hand holding being needed for the younger crowd, but I don't understand why they do it when the game is clearly for older players.

I've considered selling t-shirts. I'm horrible with finances though, and I wouldn't know how to submit my taxes then. Maybe I will in the future.

Very nice work, and I agree with you on the whole "handholding" thing. It's a real pain when you have to deal with that in games. I feel like games in general are shifting to more of a passive experience, like you're watching a tv show. Anyways, nice work.
