Bijna...

gursky is a german photographer but internationaly known. He is, great check him out. Me and a few other students are working on a campagne for an exhibition at the StΓ€del Museum in Frankfurt and his work will be part of it. He does similar things to what you did there.

In that case, you want to go to Rotterdam quickly. When you walk out the train station you'll see a big set of stairs leading up to the building. Admission is free. It's only there for a little while, so hurry!

Hi thomasVanDijk,

IMHO,
It great to add some form of life in otherwise empty building.Β I noticed 2 people here.
It provides for a story to the photo itself. Could be the smoking guy had a bad day at the office. Or just bored and taking some time off.

I think the photo could be further enhance by introducing stronger lights from the top right corner.
I may also try experimenting on the window panels on the right side, highlighting it and letting it fade away as it goes further down.
Some addition depicting shadow and lights could also work well.
Alternatively, you could just convert it to black and white photo and see how much more impact it delivers.

Hopes this helps.Β

Dynoboot In reply to Dzulkifli27 [2016-06-17 10:29:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the feedback! Regarding the light, I couldn't really get to this place at a good time. And even then, I can't be as lucky to get the guy in that spot to stand there again. I feel converting it to black and white might not be as good as I really like how those red bars stick out so much.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dzulkifli27 In reply to Dynoboot [2016-06-17 11:32:03 +0000 UTC]

Then what about just leaving the reds line while the rest is b/w.
The guy shirt could also be tinted red.
Then you could add highlights from the top?
It's just my own opinion though.Β

Hey there! Thank you for submitting toΒ  Β for feedback!

I love this pattern and perspective lines here! Really cool compositionΒ Β
I personally would remove a man. In my mind he is a bit too centred and the whole attention goes to him and creates kind of stalking photo but it's just my feeling of it of course or i'd compose him moreΒ accordingΒ to the rule of thirds and for me it wouldΒ instantlyΒ remove thisΒ 'stalking' feeling
The other thing you might like to play here is lights and shadows on the building, create a bit more contrast and 'clear' image.

But i should say i like it already a lot. You found a cool point of view and created an interesting vision of itΒ Β
Would love to see more of your photographs

I hope this helps, and if you have questions, please ask!

Dynoboot In reply to AnnaBelial [2016-06-16 16:40:13 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the feedback! I did center the man on purpose. If I jus took a shot of the buildinging without the man, it would be a completely different feeling.

I would have liked to have taken a shot with better lighting, but the top of the building isn't open to me at sunrise or sunset.

AnnaBelial In reply to Dynoboot [2016-06-16 19:17:57 +0000 UTC]

i understand! And even with such a light it's still very nice shot

Great capture. Literally.
Makes me feel slightly voyeurish, I want to check all the windows to see what else is happpening. The height makes me feel like I have a vague sense of power or something over the person slightly below, they are not aware that the viewer is there. A bit unnerving to be honest. I tip my hat to you sirΒ  Β

It's mostly gray from the concrete. The only white is on the window frame.
