Description
Heavily inspired from , the amazing Graphite Dragon artist. This character is from his fiction story. Ethan is my favorite character since I always love the first person perspective of how he venture along his life since he became a dragon in modern sociality.
The graphite technique is my first attempt, yet serious work for making scales and mane. The shading is used by graphic pencils and did some soft grading by using blending pencil. I have to say the technique from Kate is a lot harder than I've expected, but at least it's a worthy attempt nevertheless.
4 hours to finish the drawing with Derwent Graphic pencils, Natural Graphite blocks, Watersoluble Graphitone pencils, art eraser, soft eraser, drawn on Bristol Board, and edited with Photoshop CS5.

I'm actually quiet impressed on how the headshot view of this particular Dragon is quiet detailed. The hair on the top side looks very soft to the touch, and fierceness in the eye that it shows also. Plus all those scales are very well indivisually done right here.
I'm actually starting to run out of hints on how to improve in how your drawings when your making good progress here actually. Maybe just keep playing with the head of the dragon a bit more to make it more reptilian would do just a bit more, other than that...I think it looks very well done.

Thank you.
The design of the head is according to the character though. As for the art technique, it's my first attempt and I wasn't expect to score that much, still, I am very appreciated.

Sure. Just a reminder: better provide the description with essential details, it would be better if you have a reference sheet as well.

Yep. I know every time I'd finish a drawing I'd feel I hit my top mark, and then I'd start a new one and feel like I topped myself. Its important to keep working at it and the sky is the limit. Good luck to you and thanks again. ^.=.^

Not bad. I've known Ethan for quite a while and I'd say this fits him well.
I noticed you said you really liked the stories he wrote. I also wrote in that setting, but due to creative differences and our fans fighting each other we made a legal agreement I'd take down the vast majority of a work I made titled "How Dracano Came To Be"
If you want a copy for personal use, I can send you the files over skype so long as you state in writing that you will keep them for personal use and not redistribute.
