Happy that you've some food for your thoughts through this piece/comment
You always have an amazing reply, it always make me think further and deeper than usual. It's an interesting subject that you mentioned
of having a certain kind of connection/destiny with the people we meet in life. I always thought that there isn't any accidental meeting in life , that every one that we come into contact with are there to teach us something , even the people we can't stand to be around with. But such people are gone from our lives the moment we learnt something important, that we were not made aware of within our own selves. Then there are the wonderful people that through them, you are able to progress much further; that they are the catalyst that helps you to transform your inner being/self into something more beautiful (the cocoon breaks and emerges out a butterfly, the being is still the same but the state are different now). I think one that is moved by arts could see this and feel this easily more so that other. I felt most blessed in getting to know you
and having the chance to share/exchange our thoughts together
You always have the most lovely thought and perspective regarding things. Thank you so much

You're always welcome, seeing your artworks is a true joy to me
. I agree with you - each person we meet is a teacher for us, sometimes these lessons are beautiful, sometimes - painful, but they help us to reach better understanding and connection with our inner strength. I love your metaphor about the cocoon/the butterfly and the metamorphosis of the being - I felt the idea but couldn't determine that, couldn't find the element which links consistency and changes at the same time, and when you said it, I was like "yes, that's it, perfect"
. Your thoughts and ideas are marvelous, my friend, and I feel really honoured to hear them
. Thank you very much for that, and I hope you are having wonderful day
!

Haha 'spooky action at a distance'...thanks Zed for the comment. It's just one of the works that get entangled in the software, glad its finally done, a slight relief that one of them is finally done. I'm happy that you like it Zed.

Entangled in the software...!! Lol that's a good one, Dzul!
I feel that, too... relief when I finally finish something. And, then that empty feeling like I have to fill that cup up again.
My hair...? ...it likes to knit itself without any help from me.

I have to agree with the other comments. There's a strong surreal and emotive aspect to this piece. Maybe it comes from her long hair, unexpected everywhere except fairy tales. Perhaps it's the clouds and the fact that the ground can't be seen. Maybe it's because her resting place isn't familiar to me. At first, I thought it was a throne. Then I thought it could be on top of a tall building, which could also explain the clouds. And the long needle like object could have been a lightning rod. It almost made sense, until I saw the parking meters there. Or are they mirrors? Who parks on top of building? And what do the hearts mean? And so, I'm lost in trying to make sense of it. This makes the image very surreal to me.
Aside from that, I appreciate the additional information you've provided regarding the red string of fate. I haven't heard of this before. And it does add a bit of context. Now I wonder why she seems to be waiting for destined person in the sky. She seems to be able to see the string. And the hearts in the parking meter might suggest she's waiting for love. I'm curious to know more about this.

Thank you for the wonderful thoughtful comment
I was somewhat inspire by the story of Rapunzel being lock up in the tower and yet she was discovered by her prince for this piece hence her long hair. What she is resting on is somewhat of her own throne with some floor space there and it's able to float around in the clouds through some unknown machination that is quite long and complicated. I don't even know what to call it, it's something that pops in my head that she will be on this platform that could take her anywhere but at the same time she is a prisoner to it and don't have the freedom to move around except in that space. The needle like object are actually part of her hair that is stitching the clouds together in so doing creating a barrier of clouds around her perhaps hiding her presence or guarding it, but my software were crashing/lagging a lot and I couldn't work on it like I like to, to add in more and defining the details. I had the idea that she has this access to look through the world like a magic mirror but instead of that I add in the balustrade that somehow show her what she wished to see. So it like a computer screen/monitor. Those hearts that she see is the possibility of meeting with the love of her life in a language that is not spoken or written but known immediately in the heart, and for her there can only be one soulmate. Perhaps she already knew which one is the right one for her.
I like to think that both herself and her destined partner are slowly finding each other and yes she could somehow see those red thread.
That's is how I look at this but I think the interpretation is open and there is no right answer to this. It's how you felt when you see this, and I like how you associates the parking meter with the heart and give a time on it. I did not thought about this aspect of the time. Maybe she waiting for love or the right time to come.
Anyway I hope I have not been too confusing in my answers and somehow it makes a little more sense.
Thank you again for the wonderful comment

You're welcome, and thanks for the insight! I feel as though I can appreciate this image more.
This image felt as though it was layered with meaning, which made me insanely curious. I really appreciate works of art like this, even if I don't understand quite what's going on.

Yup try to make it as dreamy as possible (actually had a vague dream about that red string )
Yes indeed it is a nice story, legends like this are always interesting to know and draw, wonder if there is anything similar like this that you've heard of while growing up.

Yeah definitely, I love folklore type stories. There's something so magical about them. No, I haven't heard of anything similar so this was really interesting to me!

I should look up for more folklore as it also interest me . It'll be interesting to show and interprete other countries folklore and legends. Maybe even doing up a little of Lotr but not sure how the fans will view on that.

Arasteia In reply to Dzulkifli27 [2017-03-10 08:22:46 +0000 UTC]
Haha fair enough! Well there's the Valar, they're pretty awesome but quite complex. I'm a big fan of the Noldor and particularly Feanor and his sons (especially Maedhros hehe) but again I think they're complex XD I'm not sure, LOTR lore is so rich!

Haha I could imagine how your your mind is thinking about all those characters now, I did look up on those names you've kindly mentioned , not sure I can tackle on the Valors yet at my current level, seems really complex and since you really are a big fan of Maedhros I look him up , kinda of a badass character I believe. I need to get to know him better, character wise, and his environment and features. A lot of images on the net of him though and will have to do a little digging up and research XD sounds like it gonna be lottas fun, though might be sometime before I do it , thanks Ari!

Haha yeah the Valar are pretty hard to wrap your head around at first I definitely am a big Maedhros fan! There's not much about him in The Silmarillion but I know enough to know that he's my second fave character after Feanor. He's wonderful
Haha have fun with it!

So I went down to 3 libraries and they don't have the Silmarillion on the shelf! I managed to get the Hobbit though. I hope they just misplaced the book on some other shelf and it just bad timing for me so I probably check it again later. Maybe I could also go down to the local bookstore and try to see if they're selling it. That bookstore is quite huge and they have certain collectors books for sale as well but it cost few hundreds to thousands of dollars. Think I once saw Tolkien work on displace too. I get you picture next time I go down there I can imagine you'll be drooling over the collector piece XD

Blasphemy
The Hobbit is great though! Yeah it's probably been taken, keep checking back! Oooh gosh that's expensive. You'd probably be able to find it online fairly cheap, like on eBay or cheap online stores. If you have The Book Repository, that's a great online store.
Hahaha yessss I will be

Hahaha I pity the librarians that incurs upon your wrath. XD Never mess with a Lotr fan^^
I've started reading on the hobbit and cos I've already seen the movie it's easier to form the image. It truly is wonderful and a delightful read. No worries I went out to a nearby bookstore the other day and purchased The Silmarillion (not gonna wait) so now I have my very first Lotr book, no longer a virgin!!I don't see anymore Lotr merchandise, someone must have already bought them, and their display were more targeted towards the more popular/trendy stuff nowadays like superheros figurines and such. Used to have lots of good 1st edition / limited edition titles in their window case. Wait...should I start with The Silmarillion first or The Hobbit?

Thanks Chris, yeah it's a string that supposedly tied to your soulmate on your pinky finger I believe. An old legend too, I'm happy too to be able to move again
I'm surprised you learnt of this in your grade school, or did you heard of it from your friends back then?

It was a story one of my teachers red to us when I first started school.
I thought it was like a Japanese fairy tale but I see it went further than just Japan.
I believe a lot of the culture in Japan was heavily influenced by others, particularly Chain and Korea.
That's just what I think it might be all wrong.

I believe at some point in history the Koreans were originally Chinese that come down/exiled from China and then some of them went to Japan and created a state there, so I think that why the legends can be found throughout these countries and over time it spreads down to S.E Asia too. That is if I'm not mistaken. This is something that I've read a long time ago. So I guess perhaps you not that far off the mark there. Are there any interesting legends around your region ?
I'm betting the aboriginals have a lot of stories and legends,in particular with regards to the creation of this universe.
Thank Chris for this wonderful comment. ^^
