Description
This is an example of the reason why I have procrastinated in submitting more of the Arizona images from January 2008. There are so many that are as good or better than this one that I can't decide which are best... and I do not want to just fill this gallery with image after image of Arizona. Just the very best. I will put most of the images on another website eventually and link these for those who would like to see every single one. This is the first image I am submitting from the day we drove up the Apache Trail with my Aunt Jenny and her husband Ken. Ken is part of a group of volunteers who do horseback rescue in the canyons of the Superstition Mountains. So he knows these mountains very well. I will have to depend on them to help me remember where I took all of these beautiful images. They named every landmark along the way, but I was way too busy drinking in the beauty and snapping photos to take notes.
This first one is Canyon Lake, it was taken out the window of the moving car, as were most of the images I shot that day, so there were no do-overs to be had. The time went way too fast.... Much more to come.

I saw your picture in Cindy's feature.
This is such a rugged and imposing landscape, completed by the lake surface placid enough to mirror its surroundings.
i imagine the seat of a car must be a handicap for a photographer, one which you have completely overcome.

There really isn't much of anywhere to pull over to the side there. Wouldn't it have been nice to get out with the tripod in a few of those places...

Yeah, I feel the same way about loading up with images of Southern Cal. on my page. My tongue hangs out for images of the rockies or the four corners, and natural landscapes in general. But there are those who want to see Arizona. There are those who want to see Southern California. I say bring it on! Art is where you find it! Don't dismiss your surroundings or images.

I hadn't either. I had never met my aunt Jenny before that day, but I will never forget her and her mountains now. I will post a photo I took from the back yard of her house later and you will understand why Ken renamed them Jenny's mountains.

That sounds like it was a lovely trip all around. Superstition - I love that name. I'll look forward to Jenny's mountains.
