I have tried to do this using Daz 4.9 but the 2nd head always looks like its not part of the body....

creating believable looking two-headed characters is in deed a little tricky and without excessive postwork nearly impossible XD
If you send me some screenshots of your DAZ when you try to create an render with conjoinded characters, maybe I can give you some hints to make it more belivable
