Description Many fans here are under the impression that Leia because of her title of princess and now everything StarWars is owned by Disney, that she automatically became a Disney princess., like Cinderella, Pocahontas and all the others.
I sincerely doubt Disney will incorporate her into the princess franchise at all, given that she's more boyish and military and a grown up. And when the next Star Wars movies are made should she appear on them she'd probably be a jedi knight of some sort and perhaps a busy mother rather than a pretty crowned monarch.

Snow White: Her hair is dreadful!
Aurora: She's only a princess by a technical title, her world was destroyed.
Jasmine: She's not even from a real monarchy, not really a royal.
Ariel: She cannot sing and is tone deaf too!

because:
She had the most original hairstyles from all sci fi movies heroines.
Watch Star Wars A New Hope
Watch all Star Wars prequels, Amidala was not royalty she was elected by her people, and Anakin is a peasant a poor commoner.
ALL Disney princesses sing and dance. The only singing and dancing in Star Wars was in Jabba's palace, (Return Of The Jedi) and she didn't do any of that.

I was 10 when the original movie first came out in 1977.
I made this cartoon because all of today's fangirls believe Leia to be a Disney princess and she never was one, nor will ever be part of the princess franchise., she's a military leader.

I only saw the new movie once online, bad quality video. I know the actors are getting old and is sad Carrie Fisher died, but that's Hollywood for you! Is all in the hands of the writers, directors and producers. I didn't want Luke to die, but what can we do? Not buy the product and show the big corporations, in this case Disney, that we don't want each and every single thing they put out.

Can't sing? HA! HA! And one more HA! Ariel just never seen Star Wars Episode 4 1/2 Holyday Special... She there singing at end. Singing and dansing for Jabba is more humiliating, than kiss a wookie
Her World was destroyed? Thanx to her dad and that bastard Tarkin...

George Lucas was "pushed" into doing that television Christmas special, in an interview many years ago he suggested he was ashamed of it.
Her princess title is a mere technicality after the destruction of her planet. Princess of what, a bunch of dust in space?

Hehe! I love this concept, but I think Leia would turn around and tell any haters, Princesses or not, to shove it!

E-Ocasio In reply to Djinnchild [2013-09-09 01:33:10 +0000 UTC]

To be fair she was the first "princess" or damsel in distress who broke the stereotype of such title. I don't see why younger fans think she's a Disney princess at all, hence why I made the cartoon, she's anything but.

She also became a bit of a sex symbol in her slave girl attire from Return Of The Jedi, I don't see teenage boys of today referring to Tiana and Rapunzel as such.

Djinnchild In reply to E-Ocasio [2013-09-09 01:47:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, there is so much to be said for Leia. She's brilliant, unabashedly brazen, speaks her mind, values herself, and keeps herself collected even when utterly disgusted or emotionally shaken. Even as a 'sex symbol', she was quick on her feet and the first chance she got, Leia got out there with her hands and delightfully clever brain and took out the trash along with the boys. She's a really brilliant example of how even oppressed women can stand on their own two feet, even with friends and support along the way.
And I've honestly never heard of her being a 'Disney Princess' aside from the new copyright deal. I'd like to think that most people recognize that, while TERRIBLY and consequently attractive, she is a powerful thing who isn't to be trifled with, rather than just some pretty girl chained into a gold bikini.

Indeed. It is what George Lucas intended to do with the character, not to be the typical damsel in distress, but a leader.

Remember she's part of the 1970s when the worldwide women's liberation movement that started in the late 60s was at its height.

Word. Though the only thing that makes me a little sad/angry, especially as something of a geek girl, is the fact that she's still considered a rarity, and such an 'inspirational/groundbreaking' female character STILL. C'mon, people, the 70s were over FORTY YEARS AGO...
Still, she's sucha bawss.

And one wonders why Disney bought the franchise from George Lucas.

Seriously I think is because at some point despite the multimillion dollars acquired in royalties his company was still loosing money, or he himself was, not managing his finances well.

You know, to be fair, the one time Leia DID sing, Carrie Fisher was certainly intoxicated on something.

OMG! I remember seeing that! To this day George Lucas wants to get rid of it! He said he regret doing it. Now that Disney has the rights to the whole thing thwey might release it or show it on TV again.
