May I ask what do you mean with inverted in this case, what was the process behind and it and how does this differ from uninverted version?

i drew the colours backwards on white paper (because I didn't want to colour in the whole background black and run out of pens) and then inverted the colours on my computer. so if it needed to be black I left it white, orange then I used blue, etc. the uninverted version is therefore mostly blue and purple on white. i've completely overcomplicated that, did it make any sense?

Oh that sounds really interesting technique! And your explanation makes sense.
I guess the technique requires lots of planning to be able to imagine how colors will look like when inverted?
I think my brain would have been so confused if I tried something like that.

I inverted the reference photo in pixelmator. I'm not that clever
