Interesting idea:
The band aids seem to symbolize the little hurts we suffer in life. From harsh words to little white lies, each leaves a mark not always visible but still painful. The hand in the clean plastic glove to me says that you are even afraid to touch yourself for fear of pain. Yet at the same time you are biting a finger on that glove to control the pain. It is a vivid reminder that everyone has pain we deal with daily and it leaves its mark one way or another.
Good effort all around.
Where it falls short:
First the black and white shot robs it some much potential grab. The band aid strips are so closely shaded to The model's own skin that most of the drama of the strips becomes lost. Then there is the expression. It is more sad than anguished. While it is a good pose it could have been better with a more fervent expression. I guess it really depends on how you are trying to portray the model, as being in pain for making fun of the pain.
Other comments:
You said you used 75 band aids in this shot but I count less than 35 in the shot you have posted. Are there other shots in this sequence? I would have liked to have seen more of this from different angles to see where the DRAMA really hit me. As I said before it is an interesting idea and deserves some attention for this fact.I would liked to have seen more varied sizes and shapes of the band aids to show how different hurts need different attention⦠but that is just me.
Remember this:
I am like you; just an artist on my own sorts. I do not claim to be an art critic nor a professional. I humbly give my opinion in hopes that you will consider them in the future and it helps your art to blossom more fully. What I say here is not to be hurtful or rude but honest in my assessment of the art provided as one artist to another.

The band-aids were close to my skin colour in reality, so changing this to colour would not really affect much. I like it this way. Chip is absolutely one of the most talented and innovative photographers in the U.S. right now. Any flaws in this are likely my own; however, I am quite pleased with my expression here. I struggled in the past with facial expressions, and I think I succeeded here. Models must toe the line between ugly and "ugly pretty" when doing things like this. Going too extreme could have taken it past ugly pretty into just ugly.
I like your interpretation of the meaning, though it was not intended to be exactly as you see it.
Yes, there are other photos in this set, and I will upload another fairly soon - it is more like a beauty/editorial Chip-style shot. You will then see that I'm not fibbing about the number of band-aids. Face, neck, chest, arms.
Thank you for your thoughtful critique!

As I told Chip, this image could be vastly improved with the addition of bacon, preferrably in the form of Bacon Band-Aids.

I like it, it gives you a tough and beautiful look, with a touch of humor. How long did it take to pull all those bandaids off?

Probably not as long as it took to apply them. I woke up the next morning and looked in the mirror to find my chest looking like it was covered in hickeys (mainly just around the collarbone, not my face)!

Interesting. I love the eyes.
(and for some reason, I'm being reminded of both David Bowie and Candice Bergen.)

I always dig a Bowie reference... but isn't the other Murphy Brown??

Yes, but I was thinking younger than Murphy Brown.
