Here's an uninspired idea.
Instead of simply having the cursor destroy the enemy, you could equip an effect in a pop-up menu. Then, that effect would transfer to any enemy you touched. For example, if you gave the creatures hit points, and you equipped, say, a "BURN" cursor and touched that opponent, they would be afflicted with that status -- they would lose 1 HP every three seconds or so. There could be a default cursor which simply stunned the enemy and allowed it to be defeated when the robot came in contact with it.
As for the robot upgrades, I loved the little speed upgrade backpack. Like others have said, some sort of weapon, though not too morbid, would be an undeniable asset. Perhaps some Metroid-esque power ups?
Making the robot customizable with the parts you gain would be nice too. Of course, I'm no flash game designer, and I'm merely brainstorming.
I loved the game, and I found it enjoyable. I encourage you to pursue this project. Thank you!

Suggestion: Boss has 100 health, you do 1 damage whenever it touches, and he's constantly attacking, so you have to pay attention to the robot first. Also, I'd make wasd control him too, for leftys, or laptop users like me.

Actually, I have arrow keys, but I'm used to using my left hand to move, and I can't do that on a laptop because the arrow keys are to the right of the mouse. Actually though, I was suggesting that you make wasd an option, like both wasd and ^ 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
