Sort of on a role right now lol. Took another sketch and inked it up and colored it. This is the giant python that shows up from out of nowhere in the 1976 remake of King Kong. Personally I love the movie. I like the ape suit and the music is amazing in the movie. I thought all the actors did a fine job, and you actually felt sorry for him when he got blasted off the building. At least I felt more sorry for him than I did the 33 Kong when he took a tumble.

Really, my only knock on the film is Jessica Lang's acting (it's bad...but at least she is believable when she is screaming in fear), and the lack of other giant forms of life being on Skull Island. It's just hard to do a Kong movie where there is no other giant monsters in there....especially if you are on Skull Island. It just didn't make a whole lot of sense that there was hardly no other forms of megafauna.

Anyhoo...the snake that shows up about halfway in the movie is just.....weird. It's clearly suppose to be a giant boa, or python. It's a constrictor. But there are so many features on the darn thing that say otherwise. First off, the animal makes a rattling noise. You know, like a Diamondback Rattler. But there is no rattle on the tail.... Then you have this utterly massive shaped head that has huge cheeks like a pit viper. Also to add to that, it has fangs! And it's eye slit is sideways o_0...which only appears in one snake species in the world. The vine snake is the only snake in the world that has a horizontal pupil....

The whole animal is just a weird mishmash of a bunch of different snakes that the guys on the film just threw together. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's a movie so lets just go with it. Let's just say that this prehistoric snake had evolved these types of features because living on Skull Island is a really tough challenge. The horizontal pupils give it better vision; the fangs give it a venom that it can weaken prey with; extra pits organs in the face to sense body heat; and a muscled body of a constrictor to subdue prey.

I don't have an explanation on where the rattling comes from though..... One of Skull Island's greatest mysteries I suppose.
