this piece has a somewhat disturbing quality in it. perhaps it's the color, perhaps it's the image, but whatever it exactly is, it works excellently in unsettling the audience (myself, at least). i think the disturbance it causes is actually a necessary quality, given the powerful message of this art.
the image seems metaphorical for how a lot of people often live: although they have an inherent awareness of what the truth/good is (portrayed by the light) they still force upon themselves the darkness of ignorance by overtly covering their own eyes. a real sad and disturbing reality.

Great contrast with bright colours.
If you live in darkness, the light can blind you.
