Activity Check for my neglected boy Calder.

Step 1 - Sketching | Some days it's easy, on others not at all. At this day it was okay. My sketches vary from rather clean, like this one, to super messy and with only quick shapes instead of detail. It's perhaps this "clean" because I'm kinda familiar with standing horses. For a more action pose I'd definitely use stick figures for this step haha.

Step 2 - Lineart | Because of the relatively nice sketch, I decide to just clean it up instead of doing new linart. One reason is, that I have lost the desire to do super neat and clean linearts at all. I rather try to maintain the expressiveness of the sketch.

Step 3 - Colors | What the title says, coloring. Nothing special here. I usually work super messy on just one layer.

Step 4 - Shading |Usually I start with a multiply layer on top of the color layer and paint in some rough shadows with a hard, texture brush (the default square brush from photoshop). Once this is done, I merge the shadow and color layer and start painting in more refined shadows. Then I'll paint in the light and after that will color the lineart layer. Then I merge everything again, so I'm back to one single layer and will do some more shading.

Step 5 - Finishing Touches | At this step I'll usually paint in some strong highlights and maybe add a few overlay layers to add some more atmospheric color to the drawing. And that's it.
